  1. Try putting a fluorescent dye in the water to trace the leak.

  2. Last week I picked up my Azure Blue Is 200t F-sport. So far I am very pleased with it. I love the colour the way it looks the way it drives and refinement! I find the heated seats don't get very hot but that is just a personal preference along with the foot operated parking brake which I kept forgetting to take off, I am used to it now though. I am currently achieving 31mpg with mainly town driving so very pleased, it may improve once the engine is broken in. I have to agree with the sluggish throttle response from a standstill it is almost like the car has been mapped so that nothing much happens below 2000rpm in first gear, a bit weird but getting used to that too. Cannot wait to put more miles on the car! I have to say Jardine Lexus in Newcastle were brilliant.

  3. If it were me I'd be going for the Jag. The missus has 2 litre X-type, and to be fair not a bad old car, not as quiet as the LS, seats a bit narrower, but for a small engine can pull fairly well even with four people in. Fuel economy is good for such a big car. Sound system nowhere near as good, but some models come with Bluetooth, which would be nice to have in the 400. Interior is different, but no worse/better than LS IMHO. Just check the openings under the door sills for rust, some are really bad and some seem to be perfectly okay. I found ones later than 2004/2005 to be best to go for, and good value (but not as good value as LS). I found the S-types too cramped for my liking, and having driven the Aero, a nice car, but thirsty and also felt cramped, and the dashboard/console felt way too clumsy to me. Never driven a GS300, but been in one or two, and they seem to be okay, but the boot space was not to my liking, though I think they look a bit nicer with the bodywork styling. Whatever you end up with, hopefully no one will be trying to park in the back of it.

  5. This happened to me on a hot day last July when I was stuck in a long queue at roadworks and a huge and flthy earth removal caterpillar went past on a parallel lane covering us all in a thick layer of dust. The inappropriateness of the ice crystal symbols provided a bit of amusement in an unamusing situation.

  7. If you search through the settings you can find a slider for transmission volume for the phone - can't just recall if that's in telephone or in settings on the screen - may be set to low...

  8. Thanks for the great welcome. Bluesman is right, it's never too late to learn, I keep discovering new interests and I dive in, what is there to lose? Just done my Day Skipper qualification having never been on a yacht before. Done aircraft carriers and destroyers but never went near anything with sails. I might have a stab at piano too, maybe give it 3 months in the New Year and see if there's any aptitude there. In the meantime I've got to enjoy this new car......if it stopped raining for a day I might get it washed and waxed!

  9. I have a similar problem with my other car... a Peugeot. I can hear people perfectly, but they can only hear me very faintly if at all. I have been back to the dealer several times (it's a new car), and they have tested the system with other phones... without any problem. All they could suggest is some Bluetooth software incompatibility. Mine is a Sony Z4... which incidentally works perfectly in my Lexus. One thing the dealer pointed out, is that you must turn the volume up on the phone as well as on the car system. They also showed me that, on occasion, when pairing up, the volume on the phone gets turned down automatically. Also, I found out through this or the IS forum that some systems allow the caller to change the transmission volume. I believe you can do this on the NX, although I am not 100% sure. BTW, I know Lexus Hedge End well as they are my local dealer. I find them very reliable and genuine and trust their advice.

  10. you know what really makes the difference? what makes this make/model stand out above the german companycarmarket? when driving it it feels just special, exclusive, different. when looking at it it just looks special, like a study made it into production, from every angle there is a different view when you take a friend for a spin you see them thinking, looking, trying to understand what is going on underneath the bonnet you like or loathe the looks, the grille the interior, dash. the Lexus is not mere traffic not just transport going from A to B it is a car that you have to discover, experience and every time i drive off i find it interesting, fun, i think of ways to improve performance, efficiency etc. even after 6k km i still discover new things it is my car, my Lexus i like driving it like watching it ( oh oh i hear violins playing maybe a bit over the top with this love letter haha)

  11. Seems like a stupid question to ask if you are running the most current software, but even then the previous versions didn't seem to have this problem. Dropping the Bluetooth connection yes, but not total verbal blackout. Very strange indeed. As far as the demister is concerned, I have the air con on, and on auto with temp set at 20 and that's it, nothing else to do. If it's icy (once or twice so far) I press the max button on the dash and then once it clears back to auto. Never have any misting up problems at all. I'm not being much help!
