  1. John There is a stop buffer in the scuttle the wipers should park firmly against at the end of thier park cycle. If you want to set the wipers in their correct position on the spline remove the wipers and arms from the splines whilst the wipers are vertical ,the best way to do this, switch ignition off whilst wiper is in the vertical position. It is easier to take the pressure off the arm whilst in this position so they come off the spline straight, turn the ignition back on and turn off the wipers. Now replace the wipers on the spline with the wipers resting directly on the parking stops. This will place the wipers exactly were they should be in relation to the screen.

  2. Completely agree, I love mine, I have had it 6 years already and never kept a car that long before. Mine still gets the looks despite being over 11 years old now. If you look after them properly they will look after you. OK so I have spend a fair bit on the enhancements, but the base is still there and the looks. Although I do feel the standard car sits too high, if you lower it so the wheels fill the arches, it looks so much better, but that's just me I know it doesn't suit everyone.

  4. Following on from original posting I finally got the cheap key blade and shell which wasn't as described as I couldn't use the original key blade as I expected so contacted the Chinese vendor and got a refund on eBay. I then decided to opt for the above service and have been absolutely delighted with both product and service from this seller. I was even supplied with the keycode which I didn't previously have and just used photos of the blade as required. After telling the seller how pleased I was, he explained why the cheap versions which only offered blank blades were so unsuitable and told me that he had once tried to cut one of these cheap blades using his tungsten carbide cutter and it had broken it. The blades which he cuts are made by Silca which as most people know are a leading key manufacturer and the quality is obvious when you see it, so I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this chap wholeheartedly. It costs under £15 including signed for delivery which is a very good price so don't waste money on any other cheap offerings. End of thread I think!

  5. I bought a Mio MiVue 518, I think it was. Plugs into the lighter socket, tucked the wire behind the trim.

  6. Mini 0801 cameras and their later models are made by various Chinese factories, The current model is the larger 0806 which is slightly larger than its predecessors and has far more ventilation holes in its case. That's because the earlier models used to overheat. The quality is variable. It apparently depends on which Chinese factory actually made the model you have bought - but if you get a good one it does work., the picture quality is good and the big bonus with the Mini range is that the cameras are so small you can hide them entirely behind the rear view mirror. The Mini cameras all slide into a stick-on windscreen mount which contains the GPS. Four Gold plated pins on the camera's mounting lug take power from four pins in the GPS mount. They need to make a good contact to ensure you get GPS readings on your camera. You can by-pass the GPS mount and connect the camera direct to the power supply - but bear in mind that the 0806 camera has the new micro USB socket and requires the smaller, thinner micro usb connector NOT the mini USB connector. (You can buy an adapter if you are stuck). If you connect to your camera - or your GPS camera mount - to the Lexus cigarette lighter socket you should be fine - but don't be tempted to try to wire the camera with a hardwire kit to the sunroof power in the headlining . This is because - even though your hardwire kit will come with a converter which brings the 12v current down to 5 volts (which is what the camera needs) - the voltage is NOT stable. If you put a meter on it you will see the current fluctuates widely from as low as 1.5 volts to 9 volts . THIS WILL BLOW YOUR CAMERA. Your camera needs a stable and rock steady 5 volts - so always take your power from the ciagrette lighter or from the auxiliary power outlet at the base of the centre console via the cigarette lighter plug which arrived with your camera . That will take the 12v current down to a clean and steady 5 volts. Most makes of dashcam are intolerant of incorrect voltage so it's absolutely essential you check and double check the voltage they are going to receive is correct BEFORE you connect them up.You will need a USB voltage meter with mini and micro inputs to check this voltage - you can't do it with a conventional tester with probes.

  7. you can push too much air through it, so a massive air intake could make it worse. the standard set up is good as it takes cold air from under the front of the bonnet, but change the panel is always good. As for the exhaust, it is an "air gap" type so a pipe within a pipe so there is a restriction there. I have no idea on bhp gains, but I do know that just changing the back box gave a noticeable quicker pick up on mine, no not massive but it was definitely there and well worth the £250 I paid. and the same with the cat if you don't mind the engine management light on. Mine is turboed now so a very different animal but you can get a slight gain by doing intake/exhaust. But beyond that it is forced induction to get anything meaningful which sure is fun!

  9. You're too kind Piers and after all the thousands of posts I've read on the merits of each if ever a one liner could sum up the difference, that was it. I drive a 'slightly' modified SC and an RX SEL these days. They are both great in their own way but in my book if you haven't owned a properly sorted Soarer you haven't yet entered the Lexus Toyota inner circle. They were way ahead of their time and the rest of the elite pack. I had the non emv UZZ31 on air too and it was really quick, smooth and comfortable. More stable than my SC430 at autobahn speeds. My 2,5 was the GTT with TEMS I don't want to think about how much I spent modifying and maintaining them. I always wanted to have a go at a 4 litre TT but the cost and pain would be eye watering. A few pics for old times sake including a rare one of the Pearl white supercharged 5.0 V8 cabriolet.

  11. Being a member of this forum, can give you some added inside information before buying. Getting hold of a genuine LS 400 seems to be getting much harder and chancers will obviously try and pull the wool over people's eyes. As most LS 400 owners seem to keep their cars for an extended period, when they do come up for sale, it is even more important to try and ascertain the genuine reason for selling.

  12. Unfortunately i have not yet had it on the dyno, the one close to me is booked up to early Jan and want to charge a silly amount for a run. I went down to the coast for a funeral last weekend and down there it performed 100%. We live 1700M above sea level, strange that it ran 100% down there though. we are going down again in the next week so ill have to test some more :) while we wait for the dyno early jan i will check the fuel filter (in tank i believe), air filter and perhaps clean the MAF (which is new)

  13. We've been here before. What did you do after you left your car? This can happen because of a spurious long press on the unlock button on your remote - possibly by sitting down with the fob in your pocket, or bending down to tie a shoelace or whatever. Or maybe because a coincidental radio signal was received which fooled the car into thinking you had done such long press. It is a setting in the ecu (ie put the windows down with a long press on unlock, along with put them up with a long press on lock. Although no-one ever seems to complain about that). It can easily be changed (disabled), but you need access to a Techstream system (eg software on a laptop with the appropriate cable connector). We're not allowed to talk about how you get thus equipped here! A dealer can do it for a usurious charge.

  14. prob something simple, the original wipers have a wind deflector/aerofoil fitted,to push the blade onto screen, perhaps its working in reverse, when you turn, the new ones i got have'nt got that on my replacements, mine were only cheap flat rubber aero blades, only just over a fiver from ebay but work beautifully,no judders,or anything.

  15. The previous post says it all really. Profound words! I would suggest 'Lexusman' too... and 'Smiffies Soarer Sanctuary'. ( Gentlemen drive V8's )
