  1. Hi Gareth I don't think there is a bad colour for the ISF to be honest. The colours available seem to have been quite limited and well choicen by Lexus. All the colours I have seen in the flesh have always looked great and all were very flattering. Personally I would wait for the right car to come up as I think you will be happy with the colour when you see a car you are really interested in. The ISF is a great car and you won't find another car with this level of performance, quality, rarity and reliability combined. Good luck with which ever of the two cars you choose. Both will be exciting to drive and have a lot of character. Fun times ahead!!

  2. This may be a real life saver in the future for people who for medical reasons or other are unable to drive. BUT ........ for people on this forum, I feel, driving is a bit more than just getting from A to B and having independent transport..

  3. I've always admired the look of the Lexus steering wheels that feature the wood rim/half leather finish. Well, now I've got one! I fitted the wheel this evening (I couldn't wait). It looks great. I got it from an on- line breakers for £48. Yes, forty-eight quid. I couldn't even find one on ebay that fitted my mk.4, the only ones available were from the U.S., where they're asking silly money for them. No more driving around with a tatty looking all leather steering wheel, instead, I have a classier looking cabin now that my new (to me) wooden steering wheel has been fitted. Big grin.

  4. Hello Chaps Just to help de mystify (as much as i can) I hope this reply is acceptable & within the rules, the process i adopt is a diagnostic under load to reveal any weakening cell modules GS battery consists of what is called "battery blocks" which are linked by copper busbars - a battery block consists of two modules, each module has 6 cells within its construction each cell is 1.2Volts so the maths stack up as follows, GS 450h has 20 battery blocks which = 40 modules = 240cells @ 1.2Volts = 288 Volts which is easily deadly i am afraid so if your not electrically qualified to HV standards & technically - mechanically minded please please do not risk it. Weakened modules are replaced by modules I have reconditioned, links are removed & cleaned where required & re-installed then the whole pack is balanced & put through my process which restores as much capacity as is possible ( I researched & developed this process myself over several years ) I guarantee my work too 1yr 10,000miles Last things to add are it's also my hobby & I love my GS

  5. Thanks mike :) I couldnt agree with you more. For myself black wheels on silver cars i always hated but after spraying the lower rear bumper around the exhausts, tinted rear lights, indicators, and windows, black badges, upper and lower front grills and putting on a black lip spoiler silver wheels just didnt look right so i went with a gloss black with pink........erm yes pink brake calipers and pink badges on the wheels. Some people may call me crazy but being 25 and driving a big old lexus like this standard just didnt suit me and always got "its your dads car" from everyone. Wheels are soon going to be replaced by 19" deep dish in black with a chrome lip and if split rim then maybe pink bolts also along with black roof. Im now having to settle driving a 1.8 p reg celica until i get the heating sytem sorted thanks to this awful winter we have ahead of us :megaangry:

  6. I do feel for you. My son (28) tries not to use buses (he does not have a car) because they always have a nutter on them. I disagreed. When I next went on a local bus ........... yes ...... there on the front seat was a man dressed as a pirate with a parrot in a cage. On the back seat was a transvestite, who kept shouting "Do you think I'm sexy?" My 7 year old was transfixed! I fully understand why he tries not to use buses! This is a TRUE story!

  7. Being completely grounded I can tell you what you guys are missing. Having to lug a Flight bag full of tools and drills to my Sons by Train and then over cobbled paving rattling like a Snake inTexas, My wife and I left before 9pm to catch the Train home only to be accosted on the deserted Platform by a Smackhead looking like Jimmy Sommerv.. who when told we didn't have any money walked away F'ing angrily under his breath within earshot. We boarded the Train for London even though it was not the Train we wanted. Got off and waited for correct Train home and when it arrived who should get off but Birthday Boy who didn't have enough Dough to get to Saff-end. Still trying to tap people for cash. Monday its a Bus journey to the Dentist to check this toothache. Great week I'm having. What a pleasure being without a Car is - courtesy of DVLA's ineptitude!

  8. Thanks Mike for removing the duplicated pic. I struggle a bit with laptop technology and didn't know how to do it :) Thanks also for the rules link, it's very helpful and it makes me feel safe that I can have pleasant discussions about keeping the car in beautiful condition. I'm looking forward to the questions :)

  9. Hi Marchant, What a great looking car, she is a stunner. I have removed the repeated picture just to tidy the post up. Welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over. We recommend you spend a couple of mins looking over the rules of the LOC, we will be asking questions later. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/terms-conditions/ Regards Mike.

  10. Well, yes, I enjoy driving an LS, but that's because it's such an obedient car. It stops, goes, and turns exactly when I want it to, with no anxiety - so, a perfect car. (yes, apart from the mpg!)

  13. Me too. But have you wondered what it will do to road congestion - keeping an extra generation on the road? Well, I'm hoping that there will be less of an issue with congestion if cars are driving themselves - junctions being more efficient as cars talk and negotiate with each other, motorways having 'trains' of closely spaced co-operating cars, and optimum routes being negotiated as well - plus fewer motorways closed for hours because of serious accidents ... This may be a real life saver in the future for people who for medical reasons or other are unable to drive. BUT ........ for people on this forum, I feel, driving is a bit more than just getting from A to B and having independent transport.. I realise that there is pleasure in driving - I enjoy it very much - but isn't comfortable safe independent travel from A to B the real reason most people would own an LS? If you want something showoffy, then you'd not get an LS, and if you want to push your driving skills, surely that's what track days are for? I think the future is coming faster than we think! : o ) I am afraid I must disagree with you Scythe. I don't think it is always about showing off or testing your driving skills. I bought my Lexus because it gives me great pleasure to drive it and at an affordable price (at the moment!). I have not bought the LS to show off, in fact the opposite. I really like the fact that few people realise that it is car that can stand alongside S Class Mercedes, BMW, Jags etc. without being noticed. Do I need a 4.0 V8 to do over 140 mph? Did I buy a Lexus LS just to get me from A to B? No is the simple answer to both questions. I find I drive my Lexus very sedately and I really enjoy the smoothness and quiet refinement. It is also nice to have that power if you want a quick blast. But, to me, owning a Lexus is more than just owning a car ............. it is hard to describe ........... it is something special. I have a BIG grin on my face everytime I put the key in and start that wonderful engine. No other car comes close to my idea of motoring Navana. I go out in my Lexus just to enjoy it!.

  14. One of the real benefits of being a grey haired old whatsit and retired, if it aint nice out, you can stay in and be cosy! Wouldn't even go out to play snooker if it was icy or snowy.

  15. Since you asked so nicely, the px was £20k. On top of that I got one year road tax on the RC-F and 6 months refund on the IS-F, so it felt like a good deal to me. At the time the Parkers' book price for px was less than £18,000 so I was happy with what they offered. An extra bonus was the website advertised the RC-F as Mar 15 with nearly 2000 miles. I got there to find it was actually registered in late June with 1600 on the clock. It may have been a deliberate mistake to put me in a good mood; if so, it was a great tactic.

  18. The pop up bonnet is a non issue as far as I am concerned, are we going to worry about the cost of an air bag going of and having to replace a steering wheel or dash? Of course not, it is part of the cost of safety, next we will be arguing for bull bars to protect the front of the car from nudges-would certainly have saved rayaans some money!
