  2. So i have had the IS-F for one week and i have realised one or two things. Aged 55 and i counted the days until i collected the car, not felt like this since my 3.0s Capri ( a 2 door hooligans Ford for those of you lucky enough to be under 45) I am taking the longest route on every journey. The superb Mark Levinson sound system has been redundant, just drop the window and listen to the exhaust note. Everyone in the office wants me to take them out in it. The Mini that i planned to use to keep the fuel costs and mileage down on the IS-F has not turned a wheel all week. I cannnot walk away from it without looking back. I was out on a "spirited drive" yesterday afternoon and realised i would probably not have gone much faster, if at all, on either of my motorcycles. Pleased is an understatement!!!!!

  3. Hi All, The old girl has a wheel wobble at about 70, which is annoying, now the question is will it be fixed by a new set of (winter) tyres (on Friday) or is it a wheel bearing? The tyres are stepped and are out of shape and all are so old they don't show a Week/Year marking, the tracking was off the scale when it was corrected. The wheels were not balanced at the time as the tyres are shot. The tread is ok, but they are cracked and more square then round. So it has a hum from the tyres and a bit of a wobble. Which will it be, bearing or rubber, or could it be something else, please be the rubber! Are wheel bearing failures common on this car? Ours is a 54' and has done 77k.

  4. I would say the Vauxhall and Lexus are at opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of build quality and interior trim.

  5. I wouldn't expect a wheel bearing to produce wobble unless it is literally disintegrating. It would rumble, but not wobble. More likely to be tyres or sticky calipers/slidepins on the brakes.

  6. Good luck. We always think the worse but you never know could be a good outcome. Mike.

  7. I have been using V-Power on all my cars for years so that has obviously already made the difference and bears out what I said about the improved MPG I achieved in just less than a week of using the new filter without really trying. My son-in-law has an air line which he used to blow out the detritus from the performance filter on my Alpina last year and the same on my Boxster two years before that and I similarly decided not to re-oil the filters like you - didn't seem to affect things in anyway, but it's only recommended every 50k miles according to K & N so perhaps that's why it didn't matter? Anyway with a quoted life of 1 million miles you'd have to own the same car for a very long time to get your full moneys worth :D

  8. Only a few days ago, while looking for a list of accessories on the Lexus UK website, I came across a link to their official accessories and merchandise Ebay site. I remember seeing on there that they sell key shells for just under £13.00, and by the looks of things, you just need to transfer the "contents" of the original key from the old into the new shell. From www.lexus.co.uk, go to the very bottom and select Parts & Accessories (under the owners section) Scroll down and select "Visit Our eBay Store" Under "Categories", select "Interior Accessories" You will find what looks like a complete key replacement for £56.64, but also a replacement transmitter cover for £12.96. This latter one seems to be the just the black cover and may be all you need. A least you will be sure that it fits and is a genuine part.

  11. How easy ARE the Sides to change? Easy or very easy? :) Very very easy, the worst bit is putting the LED bulb in the wrong way and thinking it's broken!

  12. Nice. Looks like your mini will be acquiring a flat battery this winter.
