  1. The 30% is debatable and probably only near achievable when compared to a dirty OEM filter however providing 30% more air isn't really of much benefit if the engine cannot make use of it - are you going to raise the rpm limit from 6,000 to 8,000 to make use of all that extra air? The stock filter isn't too restrictive. The engine isn't doing that much work to draw air in through the filter and therefore there is very little to gain even if you can improve things. The fact that the same filter is used on the RX350, a vehicle with 35% more power compared to the RX300, shows that it isn't a limiting factor. In order to achieve better breathing the K&N filters to not filter as well as a Toyota OEM filter - there have been independent tests that prove this, so more dirt will enter the engine and therefore increase wear, but probably not by enough to worry about. By all means fit a K&N filter, if you want a little bit more noise or want to extend the servicing interval of the air filter, just don't expect to see any noticeable improvement in mpg - once the placebo effect wears off and you drive in the same way as before you will be back at the same economy figure.

  2. I agree with Rayaans that an extended test drive is important, and if you are looking at the F Sport make sure the drive is in that, the suspension is a bit firmer than on the others. I live in a hilly area and have never struggled with the gradients, but do agree you can hear the CVT box more then than at any other time. Areas like ride comfort, acceleration and noise are subjective and the important thing is that you've given it a good test under the conditions that matter to you. We look forward to the next instalment! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  3. Hello everyone I’m new here, first post. I have to confess I'm not actually a Lexus NX300h owner yet but took a test drive at the weekend and really loved it. Sluggish, poor ride, noisy CVT gearbox, over-priced posh RAV4 etc - I'd read all the "expert" reports on the car, watched all the videos out there too and very nearly didn't even bother considering it as a viable option for my next car – until I went for a test drive last weekend to make up my own mind and I’m so glad I did! Whether my expectation of the car had been reduced after reading so many mediocre reviews of the car I will never know, but I was initially very impressed even surprised with the vehicle. The general feeling was of a real quality interior with a surprising amount of space in the rear seat area and although the boot space was “not class leading” it was perfectly big enough for me and my needs. I loved the look of the car actually in the metal and really got on well with the driving - the seats were so comfortable and the cars performance and handling were fine as far I am concerned, not sluggish at all as some reports had said. I also noticed the attention the car caused on the road, just during my test drive there were a number of people looking at the car as I drove by. I’ve only seen two other NX's out and about so far so I know they are a rare sight at the moment. This is going to be a completely different experience to driving my BMW as they are such a common sight on our roads. I should explain I am looking at the NX primarily as an option to get my company car benefit-in-kind tax down compared to the BMW that I currently drive due to the low CO2 emissions of the Lexus. I'm going for another test drive this weekend and if I still feel the same afterwards I will "go for it" despite what most of the experts say! This will be my first ever Lexus.

  4. Deffo drains are on both sides. Thanks for the tip, I'll try to see where it drainst on passenger side. I've seen the water coming from underneath the car, I'd never figure out to check the door sill! If anyone has a picture or knows the exact location of this slit it would be ideal. It is pitch black nowadays when I'm back from work... Why this couldn't block in the summer. ??

  5. It goes down the A pillar and down in front of the door. It seems a weird design in that the pipe doesn't extend to the outside, it stops short and water just falls into the sill and from there it drains out. If the outlet gets blocked then the water builds up and out inside the vehicle. I'd pour some water down the other side so you can see where the water exits and then unblock the other side - it should be a small slit where the sill and floor combine. Not sure the picture above is for the correct generation of RX, I thought it had four drain outlets, not two.

  7. Would not waste my money on all season tyres as they do not perform well on everything. Prefer to have 2 decent sets designed for the different temperatures & conditions. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  9. Compared to my previous Toyota GT86 which was 200 BHP with the same OEM tyres as fitted to the Prius, the handling of the IS 300h is quite benign but not half as much fun!!!!

  10. The cone filters do add a bit of performance, but mainly noise, but the drop in panel filters really don't add much, especially to a non-modified engine - the stock filters aren't that restrictive. The K&N also filter less so you add a bit more wear to the engine.

  11. I've been using cameras in both my vehicles for a while now. The car has mobius cams both front and rear permanantly connected to an external battery pack so always recording. Obviously, they are mainly there to catch out liars and chancers in insurance disputes, but they also help explain newly acquired dents and scratches etc....even if I dont pursue the perpetrators, it provides a sort of peace of mind just knowing who or what did it.

  13. Hi, I have thought about this too but don't want to increase engine/intake noise. I have a K&N cone filter on one of my MR2's and it is fantastic, the engine feels peppier and just sounds awesome when giving it plenty of welly. I can't say fuel economy is vastly better, or even any engine HP is released but it suits that car, just not what I want for the Lex (an extra MPG or 2 would be nice though!) I read somewhere that standard Toyota branded RX air filters are cotton rather than paper el-cheapo types like basic cars or from eurocarparts, for example, so not sure how much difference piper cross or K&N would make other than oil from the filters ending up on your MAF sensor. I've not had to change my filter yet so can't confirm until I check it at the weekend! Please let us know how you get on if you do fit one! :)

  14. Toyodiy.com show the same part code for the 2004 RX300 air filter and the RX330 so the aftermarket ones should also fit both.

  16. Hi That's exactly what I did (I used to drive an A5). I've gone for the F sport (in blue) and yeah had two months now and am not disappointed in the slightest - it gets a lot of looks :-) My issue is I have gone for the premium Nav system and Lexus had to get one of their customers to get it working for me, additionally I have a Samsung S5 and the phone connects but it will not download messages. So my advice - go for the car but prepare yourself for possibly some software issues.

  19. Because even though the ls430 is a nice car and I own one too, the ls400 is the best car ever made. Well that's what I think anyway.

  22. This is the camera in the old style CT advance. In the mirror. The advantage of this is you can still use the sat nav when you are going backwards. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC

  23. off topic: not having a go Tango but reviews I have read both on here and other websites have IS220d owners or people who have driven them always bashing the 6th gear ratio saying "it was a waste of space, wasnt needed, never used it" etc but Audi's, Mercs and BMW's also made from 2005/6 all have 6 speed gearing but they dont seem to get the same bashing from owners or people who have driven them. with diesels being torquey I think 6th gear is just an overdrive gear i.e. motorway cruising gear with 1 to 5 being the main ratios but people mistake 6th for also being a town(urban) driving gear or 50/60mph ratio which its not...
