  2. Well the day has finally come to say goodbye Jaguar hello Lexus! Think it will be a steep learning curve to start with until I get familiar with the menus & locating & changing settings until I am comfortable with it all. First job all ready Done, installation of front & rear dashcams. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  3. A fuel injector issue commonly causes multiple cylinder misfire error codes on the IS200 engine, this is more likely than two coil packs failing at the same time. As Zotto stated above try some injector cleaner, although that doesn't always fix injector issues, and try moving the coil packs, e.g. move cylinder 1 or cylinder 2 to see if the error code moves to help diagnose the issue - cheaper than just purchasing new coil packs.

  4. Misfire can happen also for other causes, for instance dirty fuel injectors , try also with a injectors fuel cleaner to next fueling.

  5. Yup, that looks pretty good, I'd say you are ok at least for another year or two, as long as doesn't smell burnt, you're all good! :)

  6. Almost certain to be your tyres needing changing. Had exactly same issue on my 450h soon after I bought it. Tyres looked to have life left in them measured by mm depth but we're in fact shot. As soon as most modern wide tyres get to 3 or 4mm ish then they can tramline like hell and under heavy braking take you all over the road. It's worth getting quality replacements to help avoid same in future. hth

  7. Give me strength..... I found an IS300 sportwagon in London on the 'bay. Looks nice, even has a young lady draped over the steering wheel.. Three times now I've asked for an address to go take a look. Twice I've been told that it's been covered in stickers to promote a business which is why the paintwork is so good and then that there's a randon engine warning light that "should only take half an hour to sort if you use the forums". So again, why hasn't the randon eml been fixed already, and which part of "what is the address" is suitably gibberishness that the owner can't figure out what I want. So I've suggested I get GCHQ on the case to send a drone mapping London out to give me a rough location of all the blue IS300 Sporthatch's and work from there..... Clearly they don't really want to sell it... And I'm not a fan of using dealers, the present owner is far more honest. Usually... Until they forget to mention they clouted a curb with it....

  8. It's confusing to know what they DO check and/or Do?! http://www.lexus.co.uk/img/Lexus-Full-plus-100-Service-Summary_tcm880-1321791.pdf I guess your itemised bill would show you ... ( ... and how important for example are things like this, "Lubricate prop shaft joints (model dependant)" ?)

  10. I just had a 100k service on a 2007 RX400h for £695 + £554.62 for a timing belt change + £270.58 for waterpump replacement. This is from Lexus Twickenham. I thought the timing belt change was part of the 100k service but I guess it is in addition to it.

  12. Hi Bluenose1940, it is the IS 300h F-Sport but it is a generation 2 variant which supposedly is the first shipped to the UK. It has a very slight body alteration, so slight the dealer could not find it, so will let me know next week. Can't stop finding reasons to keep going out in it. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  13. Do you think I should hotfoot it up the road to Stansted and give FedEx their tenner? To be honest I think they owe me that for the rooftiles their so**ing great Jumbos have loosened thundering in to land at 3am 6inches above my house.

  14. I understand the 'you shouldn't be speeding anyway' argument but you can guarantee that's in a place people let loose a bit and when it's safe to do so personally I see no issue with it. This comes back to the whole money maker vs education/crash prevention/safety debate. Personally I think camera should be used in targeted hot spots and not to generate revenue and should be advertised to educate and warn people as it could be a dangerous location. Going out of your way to conceal cameras in this way is abuse if a power imo. Stu

  15. Open the tailgate and pour some water down the side channel. The water should run behind the rear light trim and come out onto the bumper. That channel may need clearing. The light clusters have a seal on the back of them that can come loose resulting in water getting into the lights and possibly into the boot. Make sure you don't see signs of water at the bottom of the light cluster. Similar with the bonnet, open and pour water around the wipers. The water should run out into the engine bay.

  16. Hi Don't know if this would interest you but my old 2005 rx300 is for sale at "used car 123 Doncaster " . I owned it for around a year and did the Cambelt (well my mate did) he replaced the tensioner , cam rollers and water pump . Had all the wheels refurbished (known issues) gearbox oil and filter done using correct Toyota oil , new rear diff seals (known issue) and oil replaced , all plugs and filters done , tyres replaced and correct 4 wheel alignment done , even genuine wipers used and a/c re gassed and serviced She never missed a beat , sold her to my uncle , who had it for around 18 months , again , apart from putting new front discs and pads , never missed . He p/x at Lexus Leicester for a Gs450 , purely because he wanted a "car" again . Leather is almost like new , everything worked inc stereo and nav , never smoked in or animals (apart from my 3 year old) air suspension works and never caused any trouble . All keys . Original panels , small paint repair on rear arch , key mark . Even the boot goes up and down So to conclude " buy her" , as I and my uncle are sooooo fussy and maintain regardless . Keep us posted Jon

  17. Hi all, An update from tinkering this last weekend: 1) Chassis and floor pan seem fine, not much rust at all - most rust is found on drop links / ARB's and other components (not air shocks tho...) - drive train components looked ok, too. 2) No update as yet 3) Totally cleaned rear diff with degreaser and checked fluid level - other than suspecting that the fluid was changed very recently (with I suspect Halfords own fluid as was light yellow in colour and not bad smelling) - level was good too, maybe overfilled if possible? Lots of fluid came out of the fill hole when I had back wheels on ramps, so I placed car on level surface and topped up what came out to bring level back up to bottom of top filler hole. With everything cleaned, I'll be able to see if there really is a leak and think now that the grunge on the rear diff was a remnant of a messy fluid change before I bought it. Fingers crossed! 4) No update as yet, My friendly Mr T parts counter guy sold me 10L of Type IV ATF fluid for £50 inc VAT! well chuffed with that! Quoted me less than £40 inc VAT for the replacement pipes and consumables (washers etc) - just remains to be seen if this is a DIY possible task. Oddly Mr T's computer has the latest RX model parts list and diagrams but Not listed as RX but a Harrier still! 5) Power steering fluid was disgusting in car and as I now have plenty of ATF, I drained most of the old fluid, topped up with fresh stuff and will use this as a flush and do a complete drain and refill this weekend (whilst checking for leaks with the rear diff now that's clean). My local Toyota dealer has flat refused to work or quote me on a major service (inc Timing belt, tensioners, water pump and spark plugs) shrugging his shoulders and saying I should go to Lexus.... Grrrr :( I also forgot to add to my list of things a brake fluid flush and refill, so picked up 5 x 1L from Mr T at the princely sum of £2 a bottle. Happy days, it finally pays off having so many Toyotas and an account for parts for the best part of 10 years. Thanks, Chris

  18. Hi, 85w90 from factory, all I mean is thats what toyota put in when they built the car, so any make will do, halfrauds, mobile 1 etc. It might be worth your while draining and refilling the diff as your car is 10 years old now, really simple, drain plug on bottom, fill plug near top, Ive done mine and the leak virtually stopped, new oil can revitalise seals a little. Have a look on clublexus.com, there are instructions with pictures to do almost anything on your car, you ll save a fortune! Also I priced the seal up at about £22 from Lexus dealer, obviously fitting will be the killer!, might have a go if it gets to be a problem! Oh, I checked mine today whilst checking brake pads, over 1500 miles since last checked and no noticeable drop in level! cheers Jason
