  1. Rudy lives in the (beautiful) wilds of Argyll. He would need a 24 hr test drive just to get to his nearest Waitrose :)

  2. I recently picked up my son and daughter-in-law from Heathrow airport and neither of them had ever been in my LS before. As we set off, (admittedly, only driving slowly) my son exclaimed " Wow, you can't hear this car". I simply replied "It's a Lexus".

  4. I posted a while ago about an incident I was involved in where I was hit in the rear by an uninsured driver. My insurers and their sister legal company were useless and gave misleading advice that lead me into a situation where had I claimed my car would have been written off. The Police were advised and said they would investigate the matter but I never heard any further from them. So contrary to the advice from my insurers' sister legal company, who suggested the only option was to make a claim on my insurance, I contacted the Motor Insurers Bureau who were very sympathetic to my cause and invited me to make a personal claim. Having made a claim ,subject to agreeing to testify in court if they are able to find the driver ,I have just received full settlement of my costs to get the car properly repaired. The moral of this particular story is, question any advice from your insurers and uninsured claims legal advisor's and if you are not satisfied don't be frightened to contact the MIB direct as they do deal with the general public on such matters and are not just there for the benefit of the Motor Insurance industry.

  6. The rear discs can easily go 100k miles any beyond provided a stuck calliper doesn't allow then to corrode. Any independent should be able to do the work for you. If your RX is 5+ years old then your dealer should be offering you essentials care and not charging any more than £295 which is the fixed price set by Lexus GB.

  7. Thanks guys for the advice - Car has done 84k so it wouldn't necessarily still be on first set of discs would it? I will bow down to those of you that have the technical skills to do this work yourself - I know my limitations and I would definitely bodge something if I attempted it. I have got a great I dependant nearby who has worked on my LS400 but not the RX so far. Also got a brilliant Toyota dealership so might try them too and see what they quote. Thanks again

  8. I like the understated look. Not that many people realise it has a V8 engine and is limited to 155mph! I was asked in a car park the other day, "Nice looking car, does it have a 2.0 litre engine?" I really like the fact that many people have no concept of how good the LS. If it was a Merc or BMW 7 series they might comment - but if they look and just walk by, it makes me smile!

  9. That looks really good! Well done! You have worked hard to achieve that - enjoy!

  10. Definitely not my cup of tea. One of the things I like about the Lexus is its understated elegance and power. I really don't care if no-one else recognises the car........I know what it is and what it does. In my opinion, that car just debases the marque and looks like a Pimp-mobile. I wonder how many times he gets stopped for 'document checks'. Just my tuppence worth............. :)

  11. No I won't but i'll be visiting our local Lidl. After all they did win Grocer of the Year 2015 even beating Aldi who held the crown previously. I too have seen very expensive motors in Lidl even a new Bentley. We often shop at Waitrose to buy their Tuna as its caught legally by hook and line rather than huge nets that catch everything including Dolphins

  12. You see some very expensive cars in an Aldi car park - do not judge a book by its cover! LOL!

  15. The ML audio system is only available on the top level grade, the CT 200h SE-L Premier (which in Nov 2012 was renamed CT 200h Premier).

  16. I use it on my bikes and it works but you do have to reapply if you have been using the machine in prolonged wet salty conditions. It's very expensive if you only buy the spray cans but you can buy it in 2 litre (or maybe it's one litre) bottles and this lasts forever if you paint it on thinly with a brush (I use a radiator brush). It needs only the thinnest of coats and according to the manufacturer it will 'creep' into the crevices. Mike
