  3. I'd start a new thread chap. Also, there is a blank switch on the right side of the wheel where my apexi unit is in the picture below. Get them to use that spot. I should have asked for commission for each system sold to an isf owner! Lol

  5. Very little difference indeed as you state it is for sound not performance which is true :)

  6. I wish now I had been well enough to clean my LS! You chaps made a real effort to prepare your cars - they all look super. Doing the lottery this week ............ have fallen for the IS-F!

  7. I would agree with Steve2006. Normally they are located behind the Glove Box, but I do not think there is one on the LS400 (89) model. An air con spray found at Halfords should do it, or search on Euro Car parts online and have it delivered to your door. Oh, by the way the old LS400 is one of the finest machines ever built. It started the Lexus dream in opinion. http://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-fluids/air-con/stp-auto-air-con-cleaner-150ml http://www.eurocarparts.com/air-con-cleaner I am new here, and also new to the Lexus world. I parted with my almost Brand new VW passat for a 98 GS300(Looking to do some work on it, and hopefully keep it). Good luck !! I will be posting a few questions soon...

  8. I don't think there is a cabin AC filter on the 89 LS400 ( you must have one of the very few 89 models). I find the best thing to use is an AC aerosol usually found in car parts stores. Start the engine put the AC on maximum cold, open all the air vents, locate the aerosol on the rear transmission tunnel and latch the button down, close all the doors and windows and wait until all the contents have gone, open all the doors to let out the fumes. Something like this

  9. I don't know if this was clear from the above, but this is a separate insurance policy and a claim will not impact your regular car insurance. Anyhow, I have decided against it, and save the £89. If I still covered 20-25k miles per year, I might have gone for it, but I don't think it is worth it.

  10. do a bit of googling for further info but this problem has been discussed here before. one scenario is is if the car has been driven into say a kerb at speed - this can cause the steering pin to break or something along those lines - lexus have in the past replaced the whole rack to rectify this problem. the second scenario relates to an ecu problem for which lexus have issued a recall for i don't thing its a tracking problem although the problem could potentially be masked by adjusting the tracking

  11. Guys, for general info - after consideration, I've gone with the service plan from Lexus for convenience (on my route to work and relativity close to home), peace of mind and potential resale value of the vehicle. 3yrs free MOT, free courtesy car and free car wash (unlimited) is also included in the aforementioned price. thanks all. Topic closed? :)

  13. I saw somewhere that the car won't run purely on battery power (even if they are full) if it has a major engine issue. The original poster's problem surely is a fuelling issue of some kind (blocked filter, blown fuse, dead pump, etc). Until an update is posted, I cannot see how this problem is related to the HV/Inverter/Batteries/Charging side of the engine...!

  14. I noticed on eBay a breaker is now selling individual battery pack "cells" for £35 a pop - if anyone of the more electrically minded members could explain how to test a "cell" with a multimeter (for example) it would no doubt save somebody's pocket in a huge way!

  15. Exactly what I thought Chris .... this all sounds pretty odd, ... the engine ran out of fuel/stopped running but ran on battery & the now the only problem mentioned is the battery ? ...maybe the overdue inverter recall could be a key factor here ? did it run out of fuel or was it possibly an inverter failure in the first place . If the inverter fails the RX 400h will automatically go into its fail-safe driving mode reducing power and speed .... so electric only ? ... sounds like the same symptoms .... did the AA add any fuel to the vehicle ? (was it the correct fuel ?) did they try to jump start it ? did they blow anything ? ... there are a lot of questions ...this may just be a comedy of errors ... but 145k on the clock, it should have gone in for the recall years ago....

  16. hmmmm .... when I bought my 400H the dealer told me there is no way the car can be driven on battery power alone - which I would have thought would have been very useful in the situation you describe (running out of fuel). Mike

  17. Hi Tommy, There are several hybrid battery repair companies that will test and replace faulty cells in you RX's battery pack, here's som links to give you an alternative to the main dealer, if you require: Northampton - http://www.hybridbatterysolutions.co.uk/?page_id=42 Reading - http://cityautos-reading.co.uk/price.html Personally, I can't see why the battery pack would stop you totally dead whilst moving, unless the system detected a safety issue with charging (like a short circuit) that could cause big damage to you or the car.... Looking up your error codes, they state: P3190 Poor Engine Power P3191 Engine does not Start P3193 Fuel Run Out So what gives?
