  3. I often read Honest John's agony column, and am amazed (well, I used to be) by how many owners of 'prestige' cars face huge repair bills after only a few years. DPFs, dual mass flywheels, electronic gearboxes... all that super-sophisticated technology to go wrong, and it costs more to fix than I bought my Lexus for. On Autotrader there's a 53 reg Audi A4 estate Multitronic (photographed on the back of a recovery truck) that needs a new gearbox at 52,000 miles. My Lexus is nearly six years older and has done three times the mileage, and still purrs along beautifully.

  4. It certainly was for the Japanese Domestic Market to reduce the heat inside the car when stood in the warmer climate of Japan so may have been available as an optional non extra for other countries.

  5. Just shows it's possible, and short periods of gridlock are great for the mpg, just gently moving on electric power only. It sure reduces the stress levels :) Gang, I hope you're not heading to Westfield and the "T" place

  6. OMG ....... I must rush out and buy one ..... woops, I have one and aren't I soooooo pleased to have discovered these amazing cars 14 years ago and finished up with my Mk3 which looks almost as good as the one in the video .............. 7. What does it not have that you would want regards as essential? My Fsport has extras but to be honest are they essential? Electric memory seats, I am the only driver so never use it. Cooled seats are nice to a point but I doubt I will ever use heated seats. Keyless entry is a nice gadget but one press of the remote to open the doors is hardly taxing!! I would not want a car without an auto dimming rear view mirror, folding door mirrors and a reverse camera. SatNav Electric windows & aircon are essential to me but standard on most cars now. Ed

  8. I don't believe any company could build a car as good as that. Leave it well alone, its almost definitely going to end up some sort of online scam, nothing could be that good. Mike.

  9. You will live a lot longer than other motorist as sitting inside that luxurious Lexus cabin as your blood pressure doesn't go any where near as high as all those other poor motorists who drive around in ignorance of that Lexus feeling. Mike.

  10. Sounds like a totally unloved and abused example when the parts required to fix the brakes are in the boot. Questions how long it's been driven with defective brakes nevermind the rest of the servicing requirements. What does a cheap OBDII scanner cost these days? A £5.00 app on a smart phone? No can't be bothered so sell it with the light on or having discovered it's something nasty don't mention it. Choice of fixing it on the driveway and then hoping it passes an MOT or have it transported for around £1.50 a mile from Cambridge. It's a no from me.

  11. I'll take a look at my 1998 LS400 over the weekend and come back with a "how to" Mike. It tells you how to check the switch in the workshop manual but not how to access it

  12. Samsung Galaxy (i have S5) can be connected as a bluetooth device using BlueDUN app from play store. It is a paid app but works like magic with the ML music system. This app also enables internet search feature if you have google search on my car. All you need is bluetooth enabled (set auto start app with Bluetooth settings) and you can connect every time you step in. Haven't cracked with iPhone as apple doesn't support DUN interface required to connect.

  14. Hi Alec, The usual way is to take a look on ebay and see what's available, problem is finding a good set with good tyres as these wheels are known for corrosion problems and decent branded tyres aren't cheap. Probably better to find a cheap set, have them refurbished then fit new tyres of your choice.

  16. No I have just got the car a fortnight ago. It was owned by a man in his 80's from new (he paid £48,000 for it in 1998) Came with his personalised plate. He has given up driving and it was his weekend car. I do not think anyone has been in the back! It came with sheepskin mats. Very pleased with it so far - everything seems to work.
