  1. Takes us that long to understand and learn how to operate the stuff. Mike.

  2. I Googled 'The speedo on my Lexus LS400 is not working' and the USA forum told me to give a thump on top of the dashboard whist driving. Gave it a thump and it has been working ever since. Evidently the needle sticks to the resting pin, particularly in hot weather.

  3. Had my IS since November last year and purchased the Lexus extended warranty for 24 months in January. Not had cause to claim as yet. In fact, if I don't make a claim during the 2 years, then I'll be very happy. Peace of mind. I considered the RAC warranty at half the Lexus £800 cost, but struggled to work out from the policy document if anything was covered ? As I say, I've yet to test the Lexus warranty, but it does seem very comprehensive. I'm likely to move my IS on next July and it will still have six months transferrable warranty. Up against a similar spec/mileage car, bet I sell mine first....and at a premium !!

  4. A 93 has one. A bit awkward to get to as it's behind the passenger kick plate. Still only takes a couple of mins to get to though. Just remember how the old one came out. The later ones are much more straight forward.

  6. I have a warranty as well - 1 year free plus two more at £. ( £1450 claimed so far ) but for me - it's peace of mind. But... each to their own. Nice to have a choice.

  7. Hi VRF, All sounds good, the only thing you'll need is Alloy Wheel "spigot rings": http://www.autoinparts.com/Wheel_nuts,_bolts,_locks,_spacers_and_accessories-Spigot_rings_for_O.E_and_Aftermarket_Alloy_Wheels/c628_897/index.html It is possible the previous owner of the wheels chose not to fit them but they are literally a few quid each and I think they are important. Spigot rings are used to ensure that an alloy wheel is correctly centred on to the hub of the vehicle. If an alloy wheel is fitted without spigot rings it will probably cause the wheel to vibrate, make it almost impossible to balance, increase uneven tyre wear and in time will work the fixings loose. So, fitting wheels without spigot rings can be very dangerous. I think the hub on an RX is something like 60.1mm and the wheel info you posted above said the "hub hole" or "bore" is 72.6mm. Hope this helps!

  8. Equality if you didn't have a warranty you could have got the sliding pins replaced and glued the seal on the back of the light cluster back on. The AC fix probably would have been considerable less outside of the Lexus dealerships, all for less than the price of the warranty.

  10. I was walking along the seafront the other day and the usual 'Boy Racers' were out doing their 'cruising' with the usual BOOM BOOM BOOM echoing all around. And then it suddenly dawned on me. As teenagers (we've all been one!) we tinkered about with the exhaust systems on our Mini's and Escorts, making them 'straight-through' and noisey. We fitted big speakers and amplifiers with the bass set as high as possible, no treble or mid-range settings for us!!! We would constantly belt out the music of Radio 1, Radio Luxembourg and Radio Caroline. And now, we just like to glide along as silently as possible, drawing occasional glances from pedestrians who seem to be thinking 'has that car got an engine?' Our music players are finely tuned to give the near perfect balance of bass, mid-range and treble settings, giving us tthe impression of being in a concert hall. My radio is often, Radio 2, TalkSport or Radio 4. Thank heavens for my three IS's How most of us change as we get older eh!!!!! Are there many members on here with similar thoughts.

  11. Get finance from elsewhere and then buy the car? Although from a person who buys every car outright - id say - if you need finance, its definitely not in budget (when talking cars of course)
