  1. Could be a good solution for somebody. Not sure about their description of a common complaint though. Not seeing it on these forums. They also state the ECU is for 2000 to 2006. 2003 saw the launch of the series II with a completely different transmission so the ECU isn't common across those six years.

  2. "Massive fail" the mechanic said to the Receptionist who asked about the Lexus MOT, I thought rather indelicately as I was within earshot. "Will be with you in a minute Sir as just dealing with these people" when he noticed me.. So I sat looking at the brand new Mondeo etc in the Showroom waiting somewhat crestfallen for the verdict. He kept me waiting a further five minutes whilst I now recognise he was pricing up the repair costs online. Came to £1,779.18 when he eventually called me to the desk. Well, it wasn't quite as bad as I thought. The good news? the Car had passed the emissions - Hooray! I didn't see the figures but it passed. First and Second on the list were the Control Arm perished gaitors. (I was told by others and himself later) that they could not remove things and so my clingfilm and insulating tape must have been disturbed to see the rubber problem. - I kept the old Gaitors so can be replace and problem solved. Offside front A-roll bar linkage excessive play. OK Just bought two (not knowing if they'd send me the wrong side) from Rock cost £59 - against Lexus price for one £95.36 + VAT. Advisorys Slight leak engine/ gearbox - asked for where, he said he couldn't remove the undertray to check!! No, but he can remove clingfilm and tape! Front tyres wearing on inner edges - actually outer edge on one, and have two new tyres plus set of Alloys to be fitted. O/S/R tyre 3mm tread Thought rears were OK and planned to use on new wheels? Maybe not. I'd booked my mechanic to replace various pieces of brake pipe but he'll need do these things instead. No mention this time of rusting rear springs or brake pipe or rear wishbones all of which I have sitting in packaging in my dining room!! Maybe not such a "massive fail" as suggested.

  3. Sound advice above. Have you seen the car? The dealer is in the UK but the car is in Ireland? Is the owner returning to the UK? Just wondering why it's not being sold in Ireland. When you come to sell it, could it put other buyers off with the history? Are there other buying options of other cars? etc...

  4. Hi All, I have verified the mileage by calling up Ireland Lexus dealership and matches up with the service book. I have also does a HPI check and report shows OK for the period it is in UK. Anything else I need to know before I jump in? Many Thanks everyone for your suggestions. This forum is very helpful indeed.

  5. Was it an issue on the test drive? I'd certainly be looking to the dealer to resolve - unless it was cited as a known issue...

  8. Did mine some time ago,and every bolt/nut came undone although it all got a good soaking of penetrating oil the night before. The sensor wires are just long enough to allow the pipes to drop down to weld the tops of the new pipe insert. 4 6mm plates were cut an shaped and welded to there appropriate positions, then a slight smear of exhaust assembly paste (as its now a face to face fit) All is well after many thousand miles now :)

  10. I went from an RX300 to a CT200h both with standard sound system and the difference was a massive drop in sound quality and bass. My recent change to is300h premier with ML intially left me somewhat underwhelmed........however, adjust bass one below half way, increase mid range to ~3/4, reduce treble to 1/2 or maybe a bit less and shift balance one step to rear, surround on and then INCREASE the volume a lot and the system really comes alive. The first time I did this was with ACDC on R2 with Thunderstruck and it didnt half make me grin a couple of weeks ago. Normal volume is just OK IMO as sound systems go but its damned fine at higher levels, in fact its probably the best sounding of any car I have had.

  11. A bit more info m8 ... > https://www.hpicheck.com/glossary.html#_Exports "If a vehicle is exported out of the UK and then is subsequently imported back in, the record of the export is removed from the vehicle's history by the DVLA. Therefore the HPI Check is unable to provide information on a vehicle's previous export status, once it becomes a UK registered vehicle again. HPI is also unable to provide any information about the vehicles history whilst it was registered and used abroad."

  12. I'll have to charge you £100 an hour lmao. I have a Merc with grey interior and that's bad enough. White is a whole different level. Can't deny that it looks great though

  13. I have a 2008 400h and have just bought an updated set of sat-nav discs, so I have a complete set of 2008 discs with the manual which I will let you have for a very small fee if it's any good to you. P.M. if you wish. Roger

  14. Pop into tesco's or other supermarket and pick up some sticky backed Velcro strips from the sewing section, about £1.29 or something silly like that (instead of £10 in b&q). That'll temporarily stick it in place so no sliding around! The unit is quite shock proof as it would normally take all the bumps when connected to the boot floor with the metal brackets!
