  1. Hello! After 3 years wafting about in a GS450h, I craved a car with a bit more noise and passion but with equal (perfect!) reliability. A tough ask. I'd looked at the usual, perusing M3s, C63s and even begun to seriously look at the new Mustang, but none really set my pulse racing... Then I remembered the ISF! A quick check revealed I could afford one, and Autotrader told me there was one only 25 miles away. I went to see it one afternoon, used a lot of fuel and made a tremendous amount of noise on the test drive, and put down a deposit straight away. 2 weeks on, I couldn't be happier! The previous owner (Mr Dunkie if my internet research is correct!) had really looked after the car, and a H&S exhaust and Takeda intake were installed already. So far, absolutely loving the dual-nature of it, it's so easy to burble about, yet transform instantly to a road-going NASCAR. What a machine!

  2. Well, a 300 mile round trip and I got a cracking example of the GS300. 54K, 15 years old, full LSH, black interior, immaculate in and out. Only bugs are aircon needs a re-gas, passenger side front has a slow, and there is only 1 master key. Other than that, so very happy! (i'll sort pictures out later) Plans, apart from keep her in tip top shape. Figure out how to add in iPod control, and update the nav discs! Can't afford much else! Guy

  3. badge snobbery is unreal in the UK, Lexus make very good cars. The LS400 Is legendary. It is better than many recent BMWs. I compare this snobbery to people buying iphones, they are not very good and way over priced, specification a few years old etc, but its just people being brainwashed into thinking they are getting something that is superior, which is often far from the case.

  4. If I were you I'd remove the DVD player, disassemble it, manually eject the DVD, reassemble it and insert the old one.

  5. Correct - which is why you could technically put any wax on and it would make no difference to the finish whatsoever. So - choose a wax based on durability, price and beading and not "looks" lol. Unless you want a show wax which'd last about 1 month or so as theyre loaded with gloss enhancers

  7. Welcome to LOC B) Sounds like a good motor you have found there. You will probably need to check what map updates are available first to see if it is actually worth it from the one you have. 2009 was the latest available for my 2001 GS430 Sport, so not particularly great. You should be able to check on the link below. http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/ I found iPod solutions a bit thin on the ground, especially for satnav models, so switched to after market stereo on my old Gen 1 and 2 GS300's. Not got round to it yet on the 430. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC

  10. I replaced mine recently and after phoning my nearest Lexus dealership they gave me a price and as they own my local Toyota garage they arranged for me to pick it up there. When I went to pick it up the guy said pity you didn't just come in , you could of had the same battery for the MR2 roadster for a lot less, but as I paid already it was to late. So in future will just get one for a MR2 roadster and save some cash. I own both a MR2 and RX and they are the same.

  11. Having a good relationship with a paint shop I may well opt for re-spray every 3 years. All those issues mentioned plus maybe having to get the wrap replaced and the detailing needed when the wrap is removed make it seem more effort than it's worth.

  12. On my LS600 there is an option on the drivers display to open and close the roof-mounted screen. I think you have to press the "Display" button to see it. However, I suspect that if the remote doesn't open it then neither will this - assuming that the batteries in the remote are OK?!! Worth a try though, as at least it will confirm whether it's the remote or the display that's at fault As for a manual release, I can't see any reference to it and I'm not brave enough to try moving it by hand.
