  1. Hi All, Right...got myself a 2000 Lexus is200 se (2000) A day after I got it, the Engine light came on and the TRC light started flashing. The car started idling low and rocking slightly, almost like it was missfiring. Instinct told me it was a coil pack so I tested them all (all fine) I even swapped all of my step fathers coil packs over as he also has is200 se but made no difference. I have done a fair few things to it and it just isn't making a difference. I clear the faults and the lights come on again :megaangry: The list of things I have done so far are as follows... 1. Full Service (inc: plugs, oil flush, all filters etc) 2. Took throttle body apart and cleaned it all, tightened up throttle cable as was sightly loose - Still slightly lumpy The only thing I can think it is now is the 'oil control valve' or 'camshaft oil control valve' (what ever you call it) Can anyone help as Im rapidly loosing the will to live now. Anyone having the same issue or can give any advice would be great. Diagnostic machine will not pick a fault up - Which doesn't help but mind you I have got a non-standard head-unit in and I have heard that they interfere with the diagnostic checking! HEEEELLLLLP???!

  2. :tsktsk: Oh NO! Sorry about this! Hit and run drivers should be heated up with a blow torch and rapidly cooled down with compressed air

  3. I do all four corners twice a year - doesn't take long to check and re-grease - saves the buggering about of un seizing them. I use the recommended Toyota red rubber grease found it to be ok so far

  4. Brake as in engine braking when going down hill. It increases the amount power going through the generators and charges the hybrid more. And welcome :)

  5. I've given up wondering why some days mine is the same both sides, and other days there's a slight difference. It's been like that for ages.

  6. Do make sure that your mirror selector switch, the one that you use when adjusting the mirror, is set to either the left of right mirror, as if you have it in the central position this turns the auto dip off.

  8. Maybe should have told them to retain the old one so you could inspect it, it does belong to you after all. It's going to be difficult to tell if it is a new one by now as carbon deposits will have already built up inside it. Chances are if you do ask for the old one now it will have been disposed of.

  9. I can't believe I'm saying this in 2015, but do you remember when a lot of new cars would only work with a Nokia 6310 and even had plastic trays made to fit a handful of different phones? Most people ended up buying a second eBayed handset and either got a separate SIM and number and left in the car all the time - a real throwback to "car phones" in the early 90's! You could follow a similar approach and get a second hand phone model from the "compatibility" list and maybe a "3" SIM card on a cheap contract with lots of data. You can divert your calls on the mobile that doesn't work with the Lex to the phone that does. Unsure hoe text messages would work (ie: forwarded). I think some mobile networks may be able to provide you with a "twinned" SIM card that would allow you to have your same number in another handset although it has been a while since I last spoke / enquirer about this... Hopefully they still do it? Good luck!
