  1. As Malc has said, here on the Continent the LS is a rare beast indeed. In the last 2 years I have seen one other 460 and a 400. I was in a bar the other day with some friends, who are all BMW owners. The conversation was all about which model and what extras they had. They asked me about the equipment on mine. I just smiled smugly and said that I had a Lexus LS - and there are no extras.......it comes complete :)

  2. Loathecliff........one of those noisy 460s. Wash your mouth out :) I owned a 400 for 15 years and now my 460; I consider the 460 to be a much better machine - albeit much more complicated. However, it doesn't have a cam belt which needs changing, or an oil cooler in the radiator which can fail.........sound familiar? :)

  3. There are an awful lot of LS400 cars on second hand car pitches and people with no prior knowledge of the series are scared of them .I have spoken to people over the years who feel they are such a technically sophisticated car they are bound to go wrong and cost a fortune to put right this especially from the over 50s who remember old automatics that always had trouble . The liklehood over the next 5 years is that a very small niche of 400 owners will have much admired and rare examples of this mould breaking phenomenom as the less cared for meet their ultimate end.

  4. You really should have pushed the issue. He was liable under Sale of Goods Act. He would have to PROVE that they were fine when you purchased the car. You are also entitled to see the 125 point report. You may find other problems come to light which are covered for 6 months. The trouble is that if he is a bit of a rogue trader then the more people take action the sooner he is out of business or changes his ways. If you are doing the work yourself then it must be an awful lot of issues to cost £1000.

  5. I saw an L reg 400 in Barnsley yesterday, in dark blue. It was having a couple of new tyres fitted and looked good. I did a double take as it's such a rare sight. That said, I live in quite a small pit village and there is another one local to mine

  6. Really kept my eyes peeled yesterday on my journey to Bedford and back via the A.1. An insignificant journey compared to you other intrepid explorers? Covered a total of 217 miles and saw............. 1. GS300.

  7. Apart from seeing a stealership from the Brumislam tram, the only LS I have seen in two months of ownership was one of those noisy unreliable 460s in Plymouth. Though I did see a Swallow Doretti on the M5; & there was a new Lamorghini at the party last night. Tacky looking thing with black wheels & yellow calipers to match the body. I ask you. who would want such a thing?

  8. It was the same when F1 went KERS, the sudden torque from the electric motors caused them to spin. Might be a long wait for the next ISF, none in the pipeline to be developed.

  9. Just been to Wales and back and didn't see any LS400's at all. We seem to be getting unique. Good innitt!.

  10. As expected,801.7 miles of faultless motoring from my £500 'shed'. There are only three makes of older car that I would trust to take me on a journey such as that,Lexus Mercedes and Saab. She returned about 30 mpg,as did my late MK3 when driven to Somerset four years ago. The last time we went to the same place,we took my wife's Mercedes E320,and the Lexus beat the Merc hands down on comfort, though of course not on economy as the Merc would have done roughly 36 mpg. The 311 mile 'door to door' trips were done with two breaks each way of about 45 minutes each, and not once did I feel even slightly uncomfortable. The Merc would have had me shifting about in the seat after a couple of hours. Left Haverfordwest at 08.35 and arrived home at 16.17.,but lost about 30 minutes on the M25 due to a series of 'incidents' (nothing new there then).including a young lady whose little Peugeot had expired in lane two and was stranded there. Hurrah for Lexus.

  13. Well said Geof! I have upgraded to an is300h and it would be nice to be able to offer my CT accessories on here without having to pay for gold membership. Anyway ebay has shifted the rubber mats to a very happy new owner :-)

  15. Interesting. On another forum which is for motorcycles , I am a moderator and members "sales" are easy to access... However, the sales are very few and far between simply because the members have very little for sale which is relevant to the forum and those few items which show up for sale are all relevant. There has been no removal of any advertisment. I think that this is because the purpose of the forum is to focus on one particular issue; in the case of this forum it would be the Lexus CT, why would anyone think that their e bay goods might be interesting if they arent relevant? and why would they think that the moderators would allow irrelevant adverts? Perhaps it is because there is some resentment from the spam advertisers who so obviously polute the forum with unrelated carp (oops spelt wrong) There's one showing now which shows stuff from an outfit chosing to call itself "muddlebox "( opps spelt wrong again) Is this the sort of Tom ***** or Harry that you were talking about?
