  1. I have owned my GS450H for just over three months now. I had considered buying a brand new is300h but saw the GS by pure luck whilst visiting the Lexus main dealer and ended up buying it. Firstly I must say that the car drives superb, like a new car in fact. However, since owning up it has spent a few trips to the Lexus main dealer. Firstly the climate system started to play up in that air would only come out of certain vents. Not the end of the world but Lexus replaced the unit under warranty at a cost of a eye watering £1500. My wipers were also very squeaky so Lexus kindly replaced those to. Now I have had a strange buzzing noise which has always annoyed me. It does it from cold start and then at certain revs when the engine is running. I might add you can only hear it with the window open but it's always bothered me anyway. I thought it sounded like a resonating exhaust box or heat shield. Lexus said it was a common fault and was caused by the fuel pump. Dubious I was but hey, Lexus warranty fitted a new one costing around £500. Unfortunately this did not cure the issue. Anyway, I had the car serviced and whilst doing there checks they noticed a slightly leaky shock, an oil leak from the vvc high pressure pipe and a slight leak from the water pump. Rather surprised I was as the car has only done 50,000 miles but then it is still 8 years old. Oh well, Lexus warranty replaced everything at a cost to them of £1200. Still rather perplexed at my ongoing buzz I asked Lexus to take another look. After removing the exhaust and heat shield it was confirmed that the buzz was in fact a slightly noisy rear box baffle. Kindly, Lexus have agreed to replace the rear exhaust system at a cost to them of £1500. Thank you Lexus. To be fair, if it were my money, most of the issues with the exception of maybe the oil pipe could have been left with no real detriment to the car itself. However, I think it certainly proves just how Astonishingly good the Lexus extended warranty is. Even at £995 for two years cover its easy to see how just a few parts with labour can benefit your wallet in the long term. All that aside, the car has driven impeccably and has been a joy to drive and the warranty has certainly proved very useful. Carl

  2. Not sure how you can check them as you would need to shine a light on the rear view mirror sensor while looking at the wing mirrors - 2 people possibly? They look tinted when in operation. Also not sure where the sensor is located - there are what looks like three areas around the mirror area (LED's in the mirror mounting itself and two sensors behind the mirror on the screen which is probably the rain sensor) If you can see what looks like a black inky liquid bleed within the mirror glass then the mirror is shot and needs replacing.

  3. My wife has only ever driven it once and that was about 5 metres out of the drive - that was enough (I was on edge for the whole 20 minutes she took to do it !!!)

  5. Gents An update which I will keep as short as possible. I was about to write off the unit I had sent for repair when Mobile Solutions said that it had been fixed, I travelled to Derby but when re-installed, still no good. This indicated the separate amplifier which had been previously checked by Lexus B'ham, I visited them and they assured me that the amplifier was OK and that the wiring had been checked. Back to Mobile Solutions who at a very reasonable cost took the amplifier out and found that the power feed to the amp was faulty, replaced and now everything is working fine. It would seem that something caused the head unit and a power lead to fail at the same time. Concerned that Lexus did not spot the faulty power lead, particularly as their labour charge was £225, and I will be visting them to discuss the matter and suggest that the labour charge for Mobile Solutions to find the fault they missed plus my petrol should be reimbursed. My final bill to Mobile Solutions was over £500 so about £725 in total, a lot of money to spend on a 12 year old vehicle but half of what Lexus would have charged for a new head unit. I did consider fitting a non-Lexus replacement unit but apparently a lot of work (and cost) involved to link it up with the existing arrangement. Excellent service from Mobile Solutions (Rob) at Derby. My thanks to Colin and Chris on this site for their interest and assistance. John

  6. Yeah yours looked a great deal. Loved mine until its demise. But when I got the pay-out, I think there were 2 for sale and both were much younger cars, so I decided to have something different. I don't often re-visit cars I've had, but with this one I could make an exception.

  7. Our family have used them many times over the last few years with several different Lexuss Lexusses Lexi models of Lexus . Always found the staff friendly, polite and accommodating and I feel I have confidence in them to be trustworthy which can't be said for a lot of other dealerships. Prices are reasonable for a Lexus dealer but I have taken out service plans to spread the cost and avoid price increases. Also, they are local which, of course, helps a lot. Yes, I can recommend them. JBP

  8. The idea of running the cable under the car is probably the way to go .There are two brake pipe service channels that run each side of the car they are covered by a plastic shield held on with captive nuts. They run from the bottom of the engine bulkhead exiting forward of the back exhaust box heat shield. The route would be down the engine firewall through the channel and then over the heatshield and into the boot through the grommet on the spare wheel carrier. I'm sure when you start the job better routing solutions at the rear will be found but it is a start.

  9. welcome. I've a supercharger Elise and isf. The isf is a great stealth car as it isn't flash to look at for most folks but the petrol heads amongst us will know what it is. Mine is bog standard (other than winters fitted in, er, winter) and is a work horse doing 10,000 miles a year mainly on motorways for work. Its perfect. M25 proof automatic and will see off a hot hatch from the lights when needed. as an early ish model, 58 plate, its a bit harsh ride wise and when I get back in the lotus I really notice the steering feel. The lotus is noisy and tiny so its not a like for like comparison. I love my isf, so don't faff about get yourself one. Choice is limited as you no doubt know...
