  2. This must be the most common sign on our roads, mainly seen on motorways being upgraded to "Smart" status over several years, for Smart read "We can now control you from our cozy office" Also add this one, the only markings on UK roads ever to be repainted on a regular basis, having said that the cost is fully covered by the revenue generated by the "safety camera"

  4. "Would you buy a car from this man?" errr nope. Methinks he hath too much to say 'pon so little... I don't like 'bad' buyers or sellers in any walk of life as it is just poor manners. No offence intended to the seller in question, I believe he is misguided. The price is too high for a SORN and listed as spares or repair for the bonnet struts well, that's a poor story. Kind of looks ok if the history is there but...there is reason for SORN. If it was near you could look...but I think the price expectation would be too high. Only voicing my opinion, that's how I react/respond/would do to it...

  6. Classic car insurance is irrelevant on a Lexus as they are not classic cars in the true sense of the term. Classic cars used to be cars that were 25 years old or over until Gordon Brown stuffed that when he became chancellor. The criteria now for cars exempt of tax and termed classic is manufactured pre 1971. With regard to insurance I doubt that any company would offer rebuild costs in the case of an accident caused by the owner as the costs would be difficult to get underwritten .The premiums would be astronomical and not enough of them to make it viable for insurance companies to seek out. The real trick is to use the car carefully make sure its someone else's fault if there is an accident then you can make them pay for the cars repair rather than accepting a low write off price.

  7. Simon The aftermarket supplied parts are consumables used mainly in Auto workshops where techies are doing these jobs day in day out and the specific technique shown in the tutorial are the views and methods of one individual. The parts will all fit and there are various anomilies with all the different suppliers .The gasket to the water pump will not be used by most garages as they tend to use the gasket in a tube these days. With regard to the timing belt the crank mark sets up the correct alingnment for the installation if you want to be sure you have it perfect just do as the tutorial depicts when setting the cam marks.

  8. Hi, I also get early 30s mpg average, but have seen 41mpg on a run when feathering the throttle and minimal break pedal use. I had the same message about the tyre pressures. Power the car on (without brake pedal, I think) then press the tyre pressure initialise button for a couple of seconds and the dash shows a tyre initialisation message. A few seconds later, it should be ok. The button is under the dash above the brake pedal. As Michael says, just consult the manual.

  11. No. LKJ Setright (Latin scholar as well as bon viveur and Car writer) said that, as it wasn't Latin, the plural was definitely LEXUSES. But a 'Luxury...' is a good idea as a conglomerate!

  13. Precisely, they are behind the times. Apple lead from the front. Apple bring forward innovation, make it their own and then others follow ;)
