  2. Right.. this is my review after driving it back from Hull to Birmingham. the balance of beauty and beast goes very well together, this car is a like a wolf wrapped in a sheeps skin.. its sleek luxury drive in normal driving style, and then you have the otherside that just produces this amazing pull like a train. i think the only thing that i think lexus should of done is to make the steering thicker, give that sport feel to the steering. apart from that i honestly cant pick a fault. Some people said about the harsh drive in a pre 11 spec.. i have come off a M3 and CLK sport, and i thought its was super. I have been looking at my Tablet thinking what else i thought was a bad point, and for the life of me i cant think of a single other thing. i aint taken any silly bends yet and have no intention to either, so i dont know how it handle around bends. Now i have found out what all the fuss was about when people told me to pick the ISF instead of other rivals. best thing is i love the way people were looking at the car thinking "what is that" .... priceless lol. but yeh.. every penny worth so far.. not a single regret.

  3. I have had rust just inside the rear arches on both sides on both my LS400s. The worst areas were on the front section of the rear arches about half way up. When I removed the rust here there were holes that needed to be repaired. I used Petropatch, which is used to repair holes in petrol tanks, to repair the holes. It is easy to work with and can be used on rusty metal. Once I had repaired the holes and removed as much rust as I could, I gave the area a couple of coats of Bonda Rust Primer (not easy to get hold of but really good in my experience and I have been using it for over 25 years now). This was followed by a coat of black Hammerite, the following day. A few days later, I put on a thin (4-5mm thickness) coat of Hammerite Underbody Seal, which I left for about a week so that it hardened up as much as it was going to do. It always seems to remain a bit tacky. Finally, I put another coat of black Hammerite on, so the tacky feel disappears and there is a shiny surface which makes it easier to remove any mud etc. Once I had done the above repair work, I then got hold of a pair of LS400 front wing liners which I adapted to fit inside the rear arches. The rear arches are now well protected and I am not anticipating having to do any further work there. If anyone is interested in fitting front wing liners in the rear arches, I did do a post and write up on the Forum on how to do this.

  4. My BMW got an advisory about a bush. I never got around to replacing it but the same guy passed it the following year with no advisory. Maybe it healed itself. :)

  5. Try a free software tool like duckcapture which allows you to screenshot an entire webpage and save it as a jpeg. http://www.ducklink.com/p/free-screen-capture-tool/

  6. I had it done to my other car, Nissan Stagea, and yes would recommend it. It feels a bit nippier and mpg is up by about 5 mpg. I'm told it reduces emissions also. MOT time will tell me that. Think I will have it done to my LS400. I'll keep the Forum informed on results.

  7. No that isn't correct. I believe the battery pack on the GS is 288 volts. The inverter boosts that to around 650 volts DC and the converter creates a 3 phase AC voltage which supplies the motor. There are two other DC-DC converters, one 288v to 12v for normal car electric functions and recharging the aux battery, and the other 288v to 46v for the power steering.

  9. It's common courtesy, even if something doesn't appeal to you there is no need to be unpleasant about it. I haven't read this thread in its entirety but there's too much negativity coming from some of you. Yes it is an open forum and you all are entitled to your own opinions but be nice people. Be nice. It's not what you say. It's the way you say it. It's all about euphemism. Anyhow, lets try and get back on topic. I am keen to see the finished product.

  10. You'd be able to get a spray can from paints4u for a decent price as well as touch up sticks should you need them

  11. Go on autotrader etc... Going rate for any IS200 is £500-£2k. Anything priced over that either needs to be completely mint or they're dreamers. I run a IS200/300 buy and sell site mate, see these change hands daily

  12. I'd like to think so, but I guess the biggest factor is that 90% of my driving is on motorways and fast A-road dual carriageways where the car just sits in 6th gear and I don't need to touch the clutch or the break for mile after mile.
