  1. My 15 year old mk4 LS has been far and away less costly to maintain than any of the Merc's and BMTroubleyou's that my friends own. They have literally spent small fortunes on their cars and not just on routine maintenance stuff either (unlike my LS), but nasty big expensive faults; e.g. timing chain failure, transmission failure, etc. I agree, the LS400 does have potential for faults (as mentioned in an earlier post), BUT, in my experience those raise their ugly heads a darn sight less often in a Lexus than in a german uberwagen.

  2. Despite what some say, most of the cars on Autotrader that have been there a while are overpriced. the good value ones are being snapped up quickly. I'm sure this was reduced from its orginal £22,500 to £20,995, but appears its been put back up again. In reality, its a £20K car I would think. theres one at Lexus Leeds with less miles and 1K cheaper, plus Lexus dealer warrenty pressumably. http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/used-IS-F/IS-F/5.0/Leeds/2070391-604923555-1609627.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_

  3. When I sold my LS400 after 13 years and 200k miles of driving, I really missed being a Lexus owner and after a year without one I finally got back into the fold with an LS430 They are awesome cars and it's only when you have owned and run one that you really appreciate them :-)

  4. So just seen a report suggseting that even with the might/expertise of Toyota backing hydogen fuel cells cars, production of the £60K+ Miria is going to be limited barely a handful globally for at least the next 3-4years...So timed perfectly for when Tesla's battery factory is due to fully come on-line and start producing battery packs for at-least 30% less than the cost today. https://transportevolved.com/2015/04/27/2016-toyota-mirai-hydrogen-fuel-cell-sedan-has-three-year-wait-caused-by-production-limitations/ Meanwhile, in the present and now, my little £200/month battery powered Leaf completed it's first 200 mile trip at the weekend (Also done nealry 200 miles more than my 'target' PCP monthly meillage limite)....Not the most relaxing, but not a probelm with the Leaf, more of a problem to do with horrific un-reliability of the rapid charger network - at least it was all 'Free', total cost to me for electricty to re-charge the Leaf for the last 800 miles has been £3!!! (Majority of charging has been on for 'Free' at local supermarket charging posts, shopping center car parks, and the odd rapid charge up at Nissan dealer) Come-on Lexus/Toyota, get on with-it and stick a full EV drivetrain into the IS, give it a 50-60kWh battery with 200 mile range, and I'll happly hand over £50K+....Otherwise my money is going straight to Tesla.

  9. Really sorry to see that, but the main thing is that you are ok. You can always replace the car. Very interesting to hear what the Traffic Cop said. I always feel extremely safe in my LS 430. Good luck with your search for a replacement, I'm sure you will find one.

  10. Lewis, I can only agree with you about the mk4 LS 400 being the best car ever. I bought my mk.4 just over 3 years ago and I've never regretted it. I enjoy driving it more than any other car i've ever been in and that includes Mercs and a Porche. As to a cambelt change, it should be every 62,000 miles and most definitely after 10 years motoring. Enjoy.

  11. Mr Roy, you have had this car for nearly 2 months now and you are telling us that this is the first time you have visited your Mother in 8 weeks!!!!!!!. It really is unforgiveable that you would keep her waiting that long to view a LS460. Shame, Shame, Shame. But seriously, you are one lucky fella.
