  1. Ok, so I have always like the idea of the top dog LS but deep down felt it a bit impractical for my commute. That said, I have always wondered how the LS compares to my GS. Well I took out a LS460 for a test drive to decide. I was hoping to be blown away by the vast improvement in refined and quiet ride. I'm certainly not knocking the LS as it is indeed a wonderful car but comparing it against my GS the differences are frankly Smaller than I expected. Road noise was possibly a tiny bit better but not enough to make any real difference. In both cars I can chat to my son sat in the back without raising my voice at 60mph. I would have to measure the difference in decibels with a device as my ears couldn't detect a vast difference. In fact I found the LS suffered from quite a lot of wind noise which seem to come from the wing mirrors. In the GS, this is not noticeable at all. The engine note was about the same level as my GS albeit in the LS the gearbox changed gear as apposed to the single gear feel of the CVT. maybe I have got used to the CVT now but I found the gearbox on the LS could have been a lot smoother changing. If anything my IS250 seems to change smoother. Power wise the engine was responsive particularly when kicked down although I felt my GS pull quicker and stronger for the most part. I really wanted to love the LS and be convinced that it was indeed the next car for me but to be honest other than the additional gadgets most of which reside in the rear I just could t justify the change. I got back in my GS afterwards and took the same journey just to compare in my own head and I felt in many ways the GS was equally as good in almost every respect. Given the better fuel economy and price to buy a GS vs a LS I really have to say I come away knowing that the GS was the right car for me. I think that it has helped me decide that the next car would have to be the newer shape GS. CARL

  2. Hi alll Was my B/day last week and was brought an in car DVD player and some black wire mesh, I do love it when your girlfriend listens to what you say you'd like to do to your pride and joy. So grill was removed, centre part cut away, then all ruff part sanded down, then this was covered in carbon wrap, mesh cut to shape, then mesh glued in and left to dry, grill back on car, Next up was the DVD player, already had the double din one removed and kenwood one in there, but wanted that little bit extra, so out came the stereo and the DVD player was married up to the IS200 kit and after a lot of fiddling, trimming, sanding and a hell of a lot of swearing, both where sat together DVD was wired in tested and both working, they will not play together, which would be silly anyway

  5. Morning John and a warm welcome. Why change from the BM? Why choose the 450h? Did you buy privately or from an Independant Seller or from an authorised Lexus Dealer? Does it have a full service history, Lexus or otherwise? Sorry about the questions, but the answers may help us to help you more than we might otherwise. Regards John Other than Chevrolet, Canon and Burnley Football Club, I've never suffered from brand loyalty, hence the change. I bought it from a small car dealer in Warrington and it has 80,000 miles, with full Lexus service history. The 450h was just one on a list of possibilities, which included Jaguar XF, Mercedes CLS, VW Phaeton etc. Thanks John. I`ve never forgiven Burnley for "robbing" Wolves of the Double in 1960! I think that you should try to obtain an official Lexus warranty if you can, as repairs (if/when, they are needed) can be costly. If you cannot obtain one, then The Sale of Goods Act however, should provide an initial 6 months warrnaty from the Seller, should you need it. The power deliver is impressive and seamless, but not as involving as the BMW. There is however an initial air of detachment between Car and Driver, but this is subsumed by silence and serenity. Look up/ search, 450h problems on this forum, if you have not done so as it will provide useful background information and advice. Enjoy the Concorde !! Regards John

  9. John hi from dismal Kent , as far as I can remember there is no need to remove the under tray to change the oil and filter . There is a cut out part that allows access to the drain plug and something similar for the filter . Personally I would bin it , they make inspecting under the engine a pain also if something is leaking they sometimes prevent the evidence from appearing on the drive . I now have three of the things parked at the back of our greenhouse , if your car is like mine , with not the nicest cosmetic looking exterior but a great car to waft around in nonetheless ,I wouldn't lose any sleep over removing it permanently .

  11. So more or less the weight of a Ford Fiesta. I'd have thought it would be fine with that over most roads and subtle inclines.
