  1. I have a friend who is Service Manager at an agricultural engineer. They have problems with a certain brand of foreign tractors - often they won't start even when new and the reason is that that they are now fitted with DPF's. The manufacturer has issued them with a long large diameter drill and instructions to drill out the internals of the DPF. That works! I would think that the sort of drill used to drill big holes through masonry/brick walls would work! Just a thought......

  3. The work was done by OCDclean Detailing in Connah's Quay, North Wales. It was an Enhancement Detail with ceramic treatment using Carpro CQuartz (additional cost and time) for protection and ease of maintenance over the next two years. Leigh from OCD worked on it from 8am to 7pm, so a fair bit of work went into it, and all the work was on the outside. The Enhancement detail means: First up the wheels are cleaned inside and out (where accessible) using a safe non acidic wheel cleaner, various brushes and wheel woollies Wheel arches and tyres are scrubbed with an all purpose cleaner/degreaser The vehicle is treated to a thick layer of snow foam including the wheels and wheel arches All door shuts, hinges, petrol cap, badges, gaps and rubbers are agitated with a soft detailing brush and an all purpose cleaner The vehicle is then safe washed with a soft mitt using a PH neutral shampoo and the two bucket method The lower half of the car is sprayed with a specialist cleaner to aid in removing of tar spots safely and effectively A fall out remover is applied to the vehicle The whole vehicle is then treated to a specialist clay bar to remove bonded contaminates leaving a perfectly clean surface ready for polishing After a full inspection and the right pad and polish combination has been chosen to maximise cut and gloss in the time restraints of the package all painted surfaces then receive a single stage machine polish using either a flex rotary or rupes dual action machine which will remove very light scratches, light swirling, holograms and wash marring this massively improves the gloss and clarity to the paintwork giving your vehicle that well cared for new lease of life All painted surfaces are then given a thorough wipe down with an IPA solution to remove any left over polishing oils and then the finish is inspected. This stage will also ensure the surface is perfectly clean to aid in the correct bonding of the wax or sealant maximising the durability of the product A high grade carnauba wax or synthetic sealant is then applied for long last protection in the forth coming months A specific wheel sealant is then applied to all four faces of the wheels which will prevent the build up of brake dust and make future maintenance a breeze All exterior brightwork is hand polished and sealed including the exhaust tips All exterior plastic trim, tyres, arches and bumpers are dressed and brought back to life Finally the car has a complete wipe down using a luxury quick detailer and inspected, once I am happy with the results of the detail the car will then be ready for collection Here are some before and after shots: Before After The paintwork was ****** up by the previous owner and the dealership "washing and polishing" the car.

  4. I own a 2006 IS 250 with the Ben Levison sound and sat nav system today I was confronted with a set of lights RED WARNING TRIANGLE with exclamation mark VSC CHECK and the traction control light as well as the engine management light, the car has 57k and I am going to book it in for it's 60k service this week. ..but c'mon guys as soon as I walk into the garage you know what the mechanic's think appart from the obvious, is how much wonga we can open her purse for with some engineering gobbledygook it is like a kinda sport isn't it? ......mind you not all garages are like that I know, but they are the ones that fold first. what's it gonna cost me guys? Also have Lexus had any recall issues, with lambda sensors or ECU's just in case it is any of them. ....The car has a full Lexus stealer service. ......... like £4.30 + vat for washer fluid! £19 for engine flush, buy a gallon of 5w30 QXL oil for that, the best engine flush 4tec is only £12 a pop.......... So guys to sum up warning klaxons red triangle VSC engine management and traction control lights And one more thing my sound system or somewhere behind the central dash is an annoying ticking fan sound even if the blower is off does the hi fi have a cooling fan like a laptop does? Any help would be appreciated chaps

  6. AWD means drive power is/can be applied to all wheels. 4x4 is a bit more specific meaning a vehicle with 4 wheels has all 4 wheels driven. 4x4 is also used as a term to describe certain types of vehicle, like the RX, but a more correct term is SUV. All UK based RXs are AWD but have the majority of power applied to the front wheels in normal operation. They don't have limited slip or locking diffs on the axles so one wheel on each axle can get stuck and so only the free wheel provides drive but in normal circumstances all wheel are being driven. The series I RX300 uses a limited-slip centre diff to sense slip of the front wheels and transfer power to the rear. The series II RX300/350 removes the mechanical centre diff and uses the traction control electronics to apply the torque distribution. On the 400h and 450h hybrids the rear drive is purely electric and is typically only provided under hard acceleration or when the vehicle detects the front wheels are slipping. There are RXs, and Toyota Harriers, in other countries that are available purely as front wheel drive. This is also the case for the base level NX300h in the UK.

  8. Like I said on a previous post John, one option is to remove the internals as the mot will only check that a dpf is fitted, not that it is working. Why bother to replace?

  10. Hey Guys, Just a few updated pictures from the Cambridge meet last Sunday. :) Next up is my custom Hayward & Scott exhaust. :) Drop the car off tomorrow morning. Mine will be their first one without secondary cat's, and I'm also getting my real quad tips ceramic coated in black. :) Will then be looking to get a quote from my bodyshop to remove the Lexus and IS badging from the rear, and paint most of the bonnet body colour (SGM). Just going to leave the vents carbon. They also need to adjust the latch if they can, to make it easier to open and close. After that it's a break till June when I get my service and recalls done at Lexus Woodford, plus fit my BC BR coilovers with uprated Swift springs. ;) Also getting a set of the carbon fibre Novel fender ducts. :) No sign of me slowing down with the mods just yet! ;) Lol. Hope you like it guys. :)
