  1. Drove from Dunfermline to Cambridge today. Circa 400 miles and averaged around 30mpg. All of it bar maybe 15 miles was motorway and most of it cruise control sat at 70 ish mph according to the GPS. Pretty happy with that. I had a BMW 740IL from the same year that was slightly better at about 34mpg but the Lexus is nicer to drive. Having owned competing marques from the same year I'd say overall the Lexus wins. BMW had more toys such as double glazing, electric blinds, telephones and rain sensing wipers but electrics in my car were unreliable. Interiors are very similar. Seats are comfier in the Lexus but had more head and leg room in the BMW (it was the long wheelbase model though). My 15 year old (who is 6' 1") finds his head hits the roof in the LS if he sits up straight in the back. He also can't sit behind me because I have my seat quite far back. Overall when it comes to refinement the Lexus is slightly better but boy it is an ugly car. The 740IL was much nicer to look at. The LS is incredibly quiet even without the double glazing. The Japanese would rule the automotive world if they found some designers that have taste.

  2. LOL I have to tell my patients to take piriton for hayfever. At this rate the NHS is going bust in 10 years or less and the government will just keep pumping money into it to try and save it. £5 an appointment and all these problems are gone. With 26k GP's giving out approx 1 million appointments in the UK per day, thats £5 MILLION revenue EACH DAY and no wasted appointments! Im actually sick of DNA's all the time! It doesnt help that pay hasnt gone up and we're doing more work for less, Im doing about 30 patients in 3 hours! Ive actually cut 20 hours a week as its just stupid giving away 45% of your earnings. Id rather spend more time with my family. Anyways, back to technology - It does seem to be moving quite quickly. We now have full EV's, conventional hybrids, plug in hybrids and soon, a hydrogen alternative. Hopefully there is some investment in the infrastructure to support the new tech as it wont grow otherwise but as mentioned, its good to have competition as it'll drive the price down!

  3. Great photos guys :) I took a few too and will pop them up later. I completely forgot to take a photo of my car though, so thanks for getting one of it, Mike :) Thanks for blanking the plate just in case, I did used to do the same but generally don't bother now because 1) I figured dodgey people could just see the car out in public with plate and clone it anyway and 2) lazyness! LOL Nice one for organising this, Stu and glad the location worked out well - the car park was bigger than I even remembered it actually! :P Definitely agree that a summer meet here with food outside would be cool :)

  4. I recently bought a copy of the Lexus book recommended by other members on the forum and as usual other items I may be interested in duly appear, this one did amuse me :)

  5. It`s a funny thing alright, but when I`m driving I cannot see the outside colour !! If you like the interior and the car has a solid service history and the price is fair and you want GS400, then buy it. As someone said "it drink and be merry, for tomorrow we may die". AND DON`T FORGET THAT IT WILL EASILY STAND OUT IN A CROWDED CAR PARK! Good luck. Regards John

  6. Agree that the MLTs are really very good tyres, but capable in snow? Rated purely as a Summer tyre. Same tyre is rated as "All Season" in the States and they get much worse snow than we do. Nobody's complained about them in the snow in the US, mostly very positive reviews.

  7. Hello and welcome to the LOC. I have looked up your model on Toyodiy.com and according to this there is only one type of tint for your Lexus. Part number is 68101-48070 described as Window Front Right Hand side, UV( Ultraviolet) Cut, Tinted,Tempered Glass,T= 5.0 GREEN. So if your window has a green tint the replacement should be the same. The glass may also have the above part number stamped on it which would confirm the correct type, if different shades are available the part number is normally followed by a colour code consisting of 2 extra letters/numbers but as there is no mention of this it would seem to confirm only one type is available. Cost at Lexus is around £100.00 so I hope the saving is significant for you but if you have fully comprehensive insurance window glass is normally covered under the policy with a nominal excess. A claim will generally not affect your NCD.
