  1. I managed to get the car cleaned today before the grey clouds came over. I clayed the car - have never done this before - Washed / Clayed / Waxed - took a while but the results were worth it. The paint was very smooth after claying and after waxing it was like a mirror. It took longer to wax the car than it did to clay it. I used the Meguiars clay kit from Halfords as it had everything in it. A weird experience using it but it worked fine. A couple of questions if anyone has clayed their cars in the past ... can the "used" clay be re-used providing its not too contaminated? Also, the kit came with a liquid mist spray which I am presuming is specific to the kit. The next time I use this can I use water or does it need to be the liquid in the spray bottle? There is enough in the bottle for another one or two uses but just wondering if water would work just as well. Picture is below - now just waiting for the rain !!!!! :megaangry:

  2. I know when I buy a car above all it just has to feel right, I have a pretty good record with my cars, I prefer to buy privately as I believe you can always get a better deal but obviously that has its risks, I do my homework and the slightest thing in an advert or a photo can put me off. I brought my ls 400 2 years ago and my 460 6 months ago, I Spent months searching for the right car and then bang!! on both occasions they just jumped out at me and I brought on impulse, why ? Because it just felt right. if I was looking for a nice mk4 at a decent price with a good background I think that car would be on my drive tonight, as Rodney trotter would say "go for it, you know it makes sense'" good luck!!

  3. I agree the grill is hideous and spoils an otherwise great looking car

  4. front grille looks awful, thank goodness that the UK requires a front number plate to break it up.

  5. When you think of some of the crackpot schemes, foisted on us in the interests of the environment, how is it acceptable for a major car manufacturer to throw away a perfectly serviceable part, for the sake of a repair costing a few pounds? Mind you, our marvellous rulers decided it was a good idea to pay us to scrap perfectly good cars, and replace them with economical diesels, which are now considered, only a few years later, to be poisoning the planet! Wonder how long before they are bribing us out of our oil burners with another whizz bang scheme.
