  1. Hi Marok, I borrowed a ramp for a day and drained the ATF out of the gearbox and removed the Hybrid pump (four bolts) and wiring loom to the pump controller. I removed the pump impeller housing screws (3 screws) and found that the shaft was seized and wouldn't budge. So I took the motor housing off (another 3 screws) and found that the front bearing was seized, preventing the motor shaft from turning. It is a very clever and simple well engineered design, the pump and motor are in excellent condition, it was just the bearing that had failed. I took the bearing to a bearing supplier and they had one in stock for £7. They said this is a common size bearing readily available. I also bought the rear shaft bearing at the same time and re-assembled it, filled the gearbox up with new ATF, cleared the P2797 code and the car has now run perfect for the last 3 months, without problems. Someone else on this forum read my post and did the same on his LS600h and he now has a working pump again too. He also has two friends with the same problem and I believe they have repaired theirs too. A relatively simple and cheap repair, saving thousands of pounds. Lexus quote 9 hours to replace the pump. I took 7 hours, including investigating the problem and driving to the bearing shop. Just shows, they even charge you too many hours for a job that should take them no more than 4 or 5 hours to do when replacing a new pump. This is the fault that every GS450h and LS600h owner dreads. EVERYONE SPREAD THE WORD THAT THIS IS AN EASY FIX AND DON'T GO TO A LEXUS DEALER WITH THIS PROBLEM AS YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF !!! Otherwise, you will be throwing away a perfectly good pump for the sake of a cheap bearing. I bought £50 worth of genuine ATF, 2x bearings at £14 and a ramp charge of £100. If a garage was to do this for you, it should cost around £500 parts and labour. Giles.

  2. Graham, you are bang on - there are a number of relays according to the US Lexus club site and one of the posters on there said that rather than guessing and making assumptions about what the problem is, you just need to find someone with a multimeter who know's what they are doing....diagnosis within 30 mins tops.

  3. Well i agreed to buy the car today, Its a cracker, the dealer will do a full service inc cambelt, and refurb the alloy wheels as i paid the screen price, also fresh MOT and anything it needs to pass. This one was much cleaner, all the bits where they should be all the extras working well, remote headsets, the whole lot. Just have to wait a week to be able to pick it up

  4. Don't always presume it's the element... As I have a problem on my car and had element changed last week and still isn't working right, and believe it's down to heated seat thermostats relay.... All my other seats heat up correctly ie rears and passenger and only bottom half of my seat doesn't work Correctly on driver side( bottom half starts to heat up then stops and blows cold air at me after 5mins) .... Here's hoping yours is just a relay as 26k isn't even run in yet so can't see it being wear n tear plus big coincidence that both front seats don't work.... All pointing to a relay or wiring problem... But then again is it only one relay running both seats..... I know on mine it's seperate relays...

  5. Graham, --Ha Ha, OTT or what? I'd still like a bit more wood though, just like the 430.

  6. Mine dont work in the front 95 mk3 but the rears work, but can be repaired if you have the patience. She has 191000 and expect the elements have broken over all those miles, but does not bother me as its all about the surge of that awesome V8 and the surreal ride from under 500 squid banger

  9. Good Afternoon, Im 6ft and have the IS 300H Executive the seat does alter and i find the position very comfortable, i recently did 8 hrs drive and it was very comfy.I recently had the Jag XF and although a nice car the Lexus is better, no messing with silly stop start buttons, no clacky diesels in slow moving traffic. The satnav is as good as any others I've used and the car has plenty of performance if you want it, i mainly use it in Eco mode and get 45 - 48 to gallon, if you drive it in Sport mode its fast but MPG suffers, but you can't have both performance and MPG.I ve owned a MB E320Diesel and its as good although the sat nav is better, i would opt for a test drive over a weekend and see what you think, personally i love mine and can't see what i could change it for that would be better value for
