  1. Hi, So I spent the last 3 months looking for brake replacement and also where to buy the parts from. At first I queried at Lexus Croydon and was given the following prices: Replace front discs and pads inc Labor - £961 Replace back discs and pads inc Labor - £798 Bringing this to a total of £1759 This is a barbaric amount where most of that price comes from labor. Now to how i saved a lot of money. Firstly took a lot of time to find somewhere that sold the parts. Front Discs Front Discs I went OEM Brembo. Bought them from Shipley Motor Factors (www.shipleymotorfactors.co.uk). They arrived within 5 days and had good customer service. Price for 2 discs - £155.86 inc free delivery Front Pads Front pads are Hawk Ceramic Pads, i bought them off a seller on ebay and they arrived within 2 weeks from the USA - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hawk-Performance-Ceramic-Brake-Pads-IS-F-CLK55-AMG-CLK63-AMG-SLK55-AMG-/371249714168? Price for 2 sets of pads - £176.72 inc Delivery Rear Discs and Pads I bought these from Kam Racing (www.kamracing.co.uk) and just told them the part numbers over the phone as not listed on their site due to not being a part they stock a lot of. They had to back order them to Brembo Italy and they were shipped as soon as they hit UK waters. Customer service was good so was not worried about waiting. Price in total for both rear discs and pads - £341.42 Fitting Now fitting can be done at any respectable garage, there is no need to get this done at Lexus. I had mine replaced at a close friends garage and it was 2 hours work (£60 per hour), but knowing the place and having been there before I was only charged an hour. Bringing the total for changing all discs and pads to £60 Total Paid Total to replace all discs and pads including labor - £734 I am disappointed Lexus overcharge so much and this makes them lose customers when basic parts need replacing, I am not too fussed doing all this leg work but others may not have the time and end up paying silly amounts of money for the same work. I thought I would put this post up so people can see that there is other places to buy parts and save £1000 if you dont go through the dealer. Just to point out, all parts that are easily replaced and not major engine work I get done at my mates garage, everything that is engine or recall or even service gets done at the dealer.

  2. Aside whether Guy has a bike bias or not - he definitely has personality and you may go so far as to say he has 'character' that is what TG needs and I am sure he could carry it off.

  4. Chris Evans is a NO, Guy Martin I think would be great and very much on the Fred Dibnah side of things. Let's face it Fred made the subject of engineering and how Britain forged ahead in industrial times very cool - loved his accent! That footage of him standing at the base of a chimney that starts to come down and he runs like hell at the last moment, when he makes it to the camera he says 'doo ya like thaaat' priceless.

  5. The NX in Japan has been a massive success. Nearing 9000 sales so far. Allocated cars for Asia have nearly all sold out On the other hand NX sales in Europe have been very steady. UK sales have exceeded expections. The NX is made in only one plant in Japan and is nearing capacity. Once the US sales machine kicks in,the waiting times will get longer.

  6. He has had feedback four times in the last year for car sales, all positive. Lexuschap has also had four positive feedbacks for car sales - three Lexuses and a Mazda - in the last year. I really really dislike this witch-hunt against this guy or guys. One member is suggesting physical violence against him (I reported that to the mods but didn't even get the courtesy of a reply, so I suppose threatening language is OK here); another says beware, he sold a car for less than he paid for it at auction - what exactly is the complaint here?; another says he has had no recent feedback but clicking on his username shows you that he has. Let me tell you a little story. I have sold two cars on eBay in the last couple of years, one for my daughter and one for my son. My daughter's Berlingo was serviced and checked over at a good independent local garage before putting it up for sale. Geezer bought it without a test drive, called a couple of hours later and said it had developed a fault which I must have known about. I got the garage to call him (they insisted they had detected no problem, and I never even drove the car personally), but he still left nasty feedback on eBay. My son's Audi A3 was main dealer serviced before the sale. Geezer took it for a test drive, drove away, two weeks later said it had a fault that I must have known about. Again, I got the dealer to talk to him, they had detected no problem, but he still left very nasty feedback. The moral of the story is that even the most honest of people can appear to be a dodgy dealer. My feedback has had at the same time two car sales negatives, making me look like an absolute a***hole. Both times the car sold for quite a bit below market, had been serviced and checked over, and as far as I know was straight and true. It's very easy to get worked up into a rage against someone, but things here with Lexuschap have gone too far. I bought an LS400 off him - so, unlike virtually everyone commenting on him, I have actually met him and done business with him - and it was a good deal with a very nice bloke. If you sort through all the stuff that has been written about him, as far as I can make out one member is pretty sure that he mis-described a car's mileage. That's it. If that makes him despicable, then what am I? I hear what you say but the facts are their if care to look for them One in particular when he bought an LS400 with galactic mileage on it which was backed up by the guy that sold it to him but then mysteriously appeared on ebay a couple of days later minus 150,000 miles. I suppose he could have driven it backwards for a period of time but this I doubt. His history is there for you to find if care to look for it but you seem not to want to not acquaint yourself with that side of lexuschap. Nearly all his feedback is written by himself the prices that appear to show what he sold it for are also fictitious, I could go on and on. As an LOC member you should be glad that these dishonest dealers are bought to the attention of the membership. You had a good experience so you say but there are plenty that haven't. As for your dealings with selling cars through ebay. You are not an unregistered ebay dealer selling dozens of cars and your experience has no bearing on the subject of lexuschap. His ID that he using at the moment huzzy=sal has had no feedback left on it for up to a year. If it was just a few months it would show how many months the last FB was left. As for his Lexuschap FB its just a work of pure fiction. If his trading is so clean why does he have to change his ID? No honest trader has to do it. His dishonest dealings are archived on here and are there for all to read. I will continue to warn the membership of his dealings and you should perhaps be relieved that you didnt have a bad experience with him. Mike

  7. In that case I'll put together a step by step guide, it takes a couple of hours but works great and no disassembly or sealant needed:)

  8. They all come with LED DRL's but there are two different types. On most models they run underneath the headlamp and are split into two parts buy the dip beam projector. Its only on the top of the range Premier version where they are in a single strip due to the Premier's having LED dip beams instead of halogen. Most Models - Split by Projector Premier - Continuous
