  2. I love when people get so excited about getting their car!! Hope you have a great time with it - great colour interior too. For what it is worth I am hopefully picking my new IS Exec up next week which will replace a CT. I could have picked anything (within reason) but I was so impressed by the IS I decided to stay with the brand. Speed is important but the in gear acceleration and handling as well as the refined nature of the car when you aren't pushing it won it in the end. Couple that with the looks and dealer service, I am amazed there aren't more on the road. Bear in mind to, my car will also be used as an emergency reponse car in my particular job with blue lights etc.. so the abilities of the car were very important to me.

  6. So...... It's 3.07am, and I can't sleep. You guessed, pick up the car in the morning. Off down to Guildford for 9.00am as soon as they open to collect.. I wasn't that fussed about the new car but I suppose the fact I am here at this time of the morning is evidence I am...!!!!! I got a white Fsport in the end with red leather interior and premium Nav. I'm already considering changing/spraying the wheels black as I think white cars with black wheels look sexy as hell...... Anyway, I imagine by the time many of you read this I shall be cruising up the M1 headed home in the new (to me) motor.... Happy days DC

  7. Well I'm glad I wasn't following behind you Tim. Jokes aside check out fuelly.com I have submitted my results with each fill up and my best mpg is 39.1 with nine fill ups. I definitely don't drive like Miss Daisy, but do gun it on the autopiste in Europe. My location has a max. speed limit 40mph. Pick the bones out of that.

  8. And since when was copy and pasting become a crime matt? one of the things most of the reviewers were going on about in the videos was the M4's torque delivery and RC-F's lack of it when they should be going into details about how different highly tuned NA and Turbo engines behave in terms of how they put power down. yes matt i went on both BMW and Lexus websites and copied and pasted horsepower and torque figures to back up an explanation on power delivery characteristics only to get you so 'excited'.. do you need some tissues..

  9. although 0-60 figures does not paint the whole picture when it comes to an overall performace of a vehicle it surely does sell cars but saying that, it depends on the level of performance you looking for. the performace figure of the alfa compared to the 300h is about the same in terms of 0-60 but i will put my money on the 300h when it comes to rolling acceleration. since the batteries are capable of generating 300NM of instant tourque when fully charged thats equivalent to a 6 cylinder 3.0 litre NA engine so for rolling acceleration up to a point the 300h will feel quicker and because Lexus tends to have smooth drive trains you dont actually feel you are going quick but your are. my 300 sits at 70mph on motorway and it feels like am doing half that. side to side the Alfa spider driver will feel like they are going fast at 70mph and the 300h driver will feel like they are doing half that. but for out and out performance hybrids i would say i would say look at 2-3 year old GS450h's or the Infiniti M35h's and pocket the change on splashing out on a new 15 plate £30-40,000 IS300h.. since they have done most of their depreciation and can accelerate to 60 in less than 6 secs infact the Infinit hybrid holds the world record for the fastest accelerating production hybrid neither of the German hybrids can match it. IS-F might be over kill in terms of what you looking for? thats a 450h being put through some stress and it handles it without breaking a sweat

  10. Funny you should mention this. My 68000 mile 04 RX has just been in for an MOT - where it leaked PS fluid and failed. Apparently the pipe is badly corroded. £900? to replace a pip and refill? I sincerely hope not.

  11. hi.... i did a similar fix a few weeks ago, following a post i found here i did it slightly different the splines actually go all the way through the inside of the aluminium tube, only the ends wear..... so, i cut the aluminium rod in half (with a hacksaw) cut the worn ends off, re-yatched the 2 bits of aluminium rod and joined them with a section of 15mm copper pipe.... which i drilled and bolted through both sections of aluminium rod. works great.... and you dont need to remove the seat from the car
