  1. lent my 430 to a family member for 4 weeks because their car had a niggly problem and just got her back and Boy WOW - its feels so much smoother than before - so smooth quite and serene ! And she passed the MOT - nearly got an advisory for a missing wheel nut though - but luckily had a spare in the garage so quickly. Roll on summer so i can give her a good clean and put the new mats in!

  2. I would think your sat nav is on the Hard Disc Drive. I understood all navs after late 09 were HDD type not dvd. If it's HDD it is updated by using a USB drive. This can only be done by Lexus. Personally, I'd do this every 4 yrs or so. I've just done mine from 2010 version to 2014 version. Think they come out every April. So, you might be wise to wait until late April to get the 2015 version.

  3. Hi Les, Yes, the gearboxes are all CVT, but have an overdrive gear which changes ratio at about 60mph (the function that the failing pump controls). So its a CVT with a 2 speed auto. You are correct; if the pump fails, then the car runs in petrol only mode, but with some limitations. On hill starts, the car will be very slow to accelerate, as there is no electric power. The car will not go above 80mph as it is at the top of its variable ratio, without the overdrive gear. MPG is reduced by approximately 20%. Some people have experienced the car limiting its speed, by gradually reducing the limit (my car never experienced this). Overall, its good enough to get you home and to garage to repair the pump bearings. I actually drove for about 5000 miles with a faulty pump. A horse might sound like a good idea, but the cost of my wife's horses confirms that cars are definately the cheaper option!!! Giles.

  4. Both cars suit multi-point lpg injection which is MUCH superior to single point in every way. I've had both, so I know from experience. I've had multi-point on my mk4 LS400 for 3 years now and 35k miles later have not had one problem to date. It's a bit more expensive to install but worth every penny in the long run. Just find a reputable installer. You won't regret the extra outlay.

  5. Hi All, Thinking of getting IS300h just looking at the servicing costs and can't understand why they are so expensive when basically it's just an oil and filter change and a load checks according to the lexus website? It looks like the hybrid check is included but don't get why it's £345 for a major service that just consists of checks?

  6. Hi, This information should be in your driver's handbook but here goes, It is recommended that the transmission fluid should be checked when hot ( to be the correct temperature in our current weather a 15 mile drive will suffice) With the engine running at idle take the transmission slowly from Park through all the positions then return to park. With the engine still running ( take care here) pull out the dipstick, wipe it on lint free cloth, reinsert then pull out again to check the level. There are 2 sets of marks on the dipstich Hot and cold so use the hot range to determine the level. The cold level is only a rough indication and not as accurate as the hot reading. If you need to add fluid use a funnel and pour down the dipstick tube. If the fluid colour is black or smells burnt replace the fluid it should look cherry red in colour if ok. Use only Toyota Type IV fluid as replacement.
