  1. So we're are patiently waiting for our IS300H to arrive in the UK, hopefully only another 4 weeks :) Just saw this What-Car review comparing the IS300H with a Merc C300 hybrid, which is one of the other cars we considered when ordering the IS300H. http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/mercedes-benz/c-class/lexus-is300h-vs-new-mercedes-benz-c-class-hybrid/1329598 Reading the review it all seems quite positive for the IS300H, a much nicer hybrid experience, quiter, better equipped, more economical despite been a petrol....But some how the Merc C300 still comes out as a clear winner . I cannot help but feel too many reviewers just cannot get their head around the point of the hybrid drive train...which is to deliver a comfortable/smooth driving experience, with enough speed, and without the clattering nature of a diesel engine. If I wanted a fast car to do 0-60 dashes in the IS300H wouldn't even be on the short list, and actually I completely disagree about the steering/road handling of the IS300H. I've been lucky enough to drive/own a whole host of amazing handling cars, and the IS300H chassis/steering feel is up there with the best....I was really surprised at how well the IS300H coped with the B road sprint I took it on during the test drive, in fact compared to the factory M sport suspension on my E90 BMW 335i I would say the IS beats it!!! ....Sadly the drivetrain just isn't geared towards spirited B road driving. But over the pound Lexus have stuck 300bhp NA V6 into the IS chassis, and in a number of reviews it has come out as a better drivers car than the new F80 BMW 335i (and a host of other fast small saloons ) http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/road-tests/reviews/a5213/the-comparison-65-3-roa1013/ Oh well, all the better in my view, means more exclusivity on the roads, since ordering our back in late November I think I've seen about 5-6 IS300Hs in total, one nearly ran me over the other day in a B&Q car park, I was looking at it and than all of a sudden it started moving (I forgot for a second the IS can move without the engine been on) B).

  2. I always felt the IS200 should have had a Toyota badge on it rather than a Lexus - certainly at the time it didn't fit in with the Lexus brand. The IS200 did have good handling though, making it fun to drive. The same cannot really be said for the the CT, it is just an Auris with different body panels and interior - it doesn't really fit in with the other vehicles in the range.

  3. Stuart, just 'google' Brisk DR15YS and you'll see these silver SINGLE electrode plugs. I've now reached 30,000 miles on mine and the car has not missed a single beat and no misfiring at all. I'm replacing them this month with another set of the same. With postage, 8 plugs are about £36/37. Hope this helps.

  4. I feel responsible, but not guilty for having started this argument with my original response. It was bound to polarise opinions and shows how passionate people feel about this topic. Yes tailgating is wrong, but equally please leave the law enforcement to the police. No-one should pride themselves on being part of the "never had an accident, but caused plenty" brigade! What next? Middle lane hoggers? People who drive with their fog lights on? ... Seriously though, I agree with Colin and suggest that this whole thread be closed (or moved to a general discussion platform) as it has no place in this forum and certainly does not fit with the Lexus driver's image. We're going to put new members off! Let's remember this forum is for CT200h owners and prospective buyers who are seeking help in the resolution of issues or problems, and advice on potential buys and upgrades. I believe that the Lexus forum is one of the best of its kind. Contributors and moderators always go out of their way to help each other with friendly and useful advice. Let's keep it that way! Dan

  5. Hi Malcolm As it happens, I have an owners manual/handbook for a Mk 1 LS400 which I am happy to let you have. I think it will cover a 1991 LS400 as it has a copyright mark on the first page for Toyota Motor Corporation with a 1990 date. Send me a personal message with your address and I will post it to you. Happy motoring in your new car! Colin

  6. If somebody is tailgating you, you have no idea why they are doing so. They may just be impatient, or you may be driving well below the normal traffic flow, or they may even be trying to get to a hospital or other emergency. Whatever the reason, you can either ignore them, or move out of their way when it is safe to do so. If you are really concerned about their driving, then move over (when safe), make a note of their registration number and report them to the police. Taking vigilante action (whether it's braking hard, speeding up and slowing down, spraying them with windscreen wash or whatever) is stupid, childish and potentially dangerous - and is frankly the behaviour I might expect from drivers of Saxos and Novas with stupidly large exhausts, rather than Lexus drivers.

  7. Have you considered Anger Management sessions? Especially in a 20mph zone, even if the tailgater did run into the back of you (which is extremely unlikely), the damage is likely to be minimal and would be their fault. Enforcing the law is a job for the police, not you. Perhaps you should concentrate more on your own driving and less on the car behind you. You would be a calmer and safer driver for it - rather than deliberately trying to orchestrate an accident, which is what your current behaviour is likely to do.
