  1. I would never fit cheap chinese tyres on my cars. They may look pretty good on labels but steer clear! Also Halfords is the last place on earth to shop for tyres :) Go for part worn or new set of Falkens. Guys (and Gals) - never skim on tyres they are what connect you to the road and keep you alive. Always buy good tyres - sure research for the best model to fit your requirements but do not go cheap/crap. I paid £165 per corner for my winter tyres and by heck they are worth it. Brilliant performance in the winter and wet weather. Bren

  2. Good luck - did you check your thermostat (mine jammed and caused a lot of steam and me grief). Make sure you do up the bleed screws after you have bled the system. I had a local indi change my Cam belt which resulted in a new Rad at 200K miles - not their fault it was just old - and we had fun getting the air out of the system. My Rad was £300+ the cheap ones did not fit my 2002 model. Bren

  3. Mine gets used every day for all sorts of driving, short, long and tbh I don't worry any more about mpg ........... just fill it up when it hits the orange and a bit ( there's 100 miles left in mine when it hits orange ) and pay the card bill every month and thank heavens I can ........ when one gets older the finer things in life matter more, and to me driving my Ls400 is of prime importance and absolutely one of the finer things in life. Holidaying with my Ls is also a great thing to be able to do and something I so, so enjoy. Good food, home comforts, Ls400 driving and that other thing that seems to develop more when one's a tad younger ........ hahahaha .... get my first state OAPension this month ........... OMG ........ now I can afford more miles in Lexii ... ah the bliss of older age eh !!! ........ and getting old quite disgracefully is good too. Malc .

  5. I have recently fitted a pair of Neuton NT8000 tyres on the front of my silver LS400 to replace the Continental tyres that were on the car when I bought it. They are made in Indonesia by Yokahama. I did quite a bit of reading up on tyres before I bought them and they had some good reviews on www.tyrereviews.co.uk - take a look. I could not find any local stockists but they are available online either from LoveTyres or from Neo Brothers (who are Saab specialists). The tyres are priced at about £64-£65 each. I bought the pair I have had fitted from LoveTyres and I think the delivery was about £8 for the pair. Buying a single tyre may be cheaper at Neo Brothers. I saw one recently advertised by them on eBay for just under £69 including delivery. I have been pleased with the tyres so far, although I have not had them on long. But my son, who does a lot more miles than I do, has had some on his Volvo V70 estate for about a year now and has been pleased with them too.

  6. Just been to B and Q in my 400. I listened to the theme from Road to perdition by Thomas Newman. Absolutely stunning music that sounds amazing in the 400. I just need a system as good as that in my house now.

  9. I would very politely show them the facts and explain your confidence in them has taken a nose dive after 5 years of excellent service, would they like to investigate what went wrong for them to reach the conclusion they gave you. Remember to be friendly and polite all the way through and just see what happens. Mike.

  10. I've always believed that it is not good for an engine to warm up just ticking over on the driveway. Moving off soon after starting enables the engine to warm up under load, it happens more quickly too ! I agree with other posts here, gently does it until operating temperature has been reached.

  11. well done .......... so had you just replaced visibly worn out tyres then it would have passed ok with some Advisories to do over the coming months quite a good result really. Malc

  12. Have you considered Anger Management sessions? Especially in a 20mph zone, even if the tailgater did run into the back of you (which is extremely unlikely), the damage is likely to be minimal and would be their fault. Enforcing the law is a job for the police, not you. Perhaps you should concentrate more on your own driving and less on the car behind you. You would be a calmer and safer driver for it - rather than deliberately trying to orchestrate an accident, which is what your current behaviour is likely to do.

  13. I think if they spot something dangerous,I'd rather know about it rather than drive around for six months not knowing!.
