  1. Wouldn't touch a 400 for that simple reason, if a bulb only lasts 21yrs what else have lexus scimpt on.

  2. Picked up the other half tonight after a shopping trip and she decided to pull down the passenger sun visor to use the illuminated mirror. No light! This car is not even 21 years old yet and a bulb has failed. Sorted it though, used the bulb out of my side as I never do my make up whilst driving anyway :)

  3. I wouldn't be so disappointed to be honest. Sure you use more fuel than some other people may use but you obviously drive in a different manner to other people.... and your manner of driving presumably suits your preference. Some people aren't happy unless they're towing a caravan. Thankfully, this is something you wont catch any CT driver doing. I would imagine that if you had a less economical car you would use even more fuel than you do with the CT. So you still probably make economies on fuel spending....possibly larger economies than someone who has a more economical driving style. The logic is as follows: when you make a 10 mpg improvement to 30 mpg you make your fuel last 33% further. When you make a 10 mpg saving on 50 mpg, you make you fuel last 20% further.

  4. I think we may have spoken about this car before being in BRG which it isn't. Also note the probable initial Lexus 7 service stamps .................and the rest by an indy..... and of course the Trader refers quite rightly to the clutch being in excellent condition !!!!! Ho hum. another one bites the dust maybe ................... at this money methinks a full Lexus service history and better finished wheels should be on offer too. Malc

  5. IMHO that car is at least £500 overpriced even before haggling. There are a bunch of £2k MK4s (plus this one which is the most expensive of the lot at £2.5k) dotted around the country sitting on AutoTrader/Ebay/Gumtree and not selling. A member here (bald headed chap according to his Avatar!) has just snapped up a lovely looking black one for just over £1000, admittedly needing a cambelt plus some tyres. A great looking two tone silver over grey one went through on ebay last week for under £1500. I think £1500 for a decent one is target price at the moment. They seem to have gone up in the last 12months or so since I started casually looking (darn it I have missed the trough I think) but £2k+ is overpaying IMHO.

  6. I know what you mean. My 15 year old mk4 needs a replacement numberplate bulb. Thinking of trading it in for a Renault...

  7. £745 for this: Change oil and filter (Toyota say mineral oil is fine) Rotate tyres (not necessary if your car is aligned) Replace aircon filter (in the glovebox, 1 minute job) Replace engine air filter (easy DIY job) Tighten CV joint boots (what, a 10 minute job?) Inspect brakes (5 minute job) Road test (not necessary if you know your car) Check ball joints (5 minute job with a pry bar) Check body (for rust?) Check brake lines and hoses (fair enough) Engine valve clearance (ditto) Engine/inverter coolant (ditto) Check exhaust (not necessary if you know your car) Check fuel lines, tank, vapour system (fair enough) Check fuel tank cap gasket (1 minute job) Check rear diff oil (I doubt they do anything other than look for weeps) Check steering (not necessary if you know your car) Check transmission fluid (look at dipstick, yep it's still red) Honestly, I don't see how that is worth £745. Most of it is simple inspection - if any work needs doing on the inspected parts, that'll add to the bill.
