  2. hi this is a common fault known to be more common on the early LS400s (upto 94) but appears to rear its ugly head on the mark 3s aswell as they get older. There is a member here who repairs these - his name is chris vince - if you PM him he might be able to help you. hope this helps

  3. I test my sunroof drains by gently pouring water in to each corner, with the roof open of course, then checking under the car to see it emerge, at the corresponding corner. Obviously, if one or more remains dry, then you know where to look.

  4. I drove 800 miles in Ireland back in August in my Uncles 04 LS430 with 168k on clock. He gets 20-22. As he gave me a full tank of fuel free I decided to see how far I could get on it. I did 538 on the tank with average of 30mpg for a lot of the trip. A/C off. Power trans off and set cruise to 65 when on Motorways. I have 05 one at mo and averaging 26 in normal driving conditions.

  5. Thanks guys. Yesterday afternoon I used a length of telephone cable and it went down about a metre and a half on each of the four tubes. Let's hope that has dealt with the problem.

  6. Well i found an exact replacement siren for my car, hopefully it will arrive tomorrow and I'll get it changed over the weekend I'll let you know if it sorts my problem. It would be really handy not having to manually lock the car all the time!

  7. I just popped a short length of semi hard flexi washing line ( or summat like that ) into each of the four holes and that dislodged enough debris to make them flow freely again. Malc

  8. glad it got sorted - do you think it might be due to lack of use? remember to flick the switch every so often.

  9. If the PCD is 114.3 (diameter of bolts holes) you should be able to get a set of IS250 alloys (assuming the offset is the usual 38-45). You can check yours with a mirror in good light - the size will be stamped on the backs of the spokes (something like 45h and the characters 8j or 8.5j if you have a staggered set up on the back of different spokes). The new GS's are all 18x8j 45 - knowing that I managed to get a set of GS Mk2 Sport alloys off ebay for £140. 2 could do with a refurb, so they'll go on one side of the car. Last year I just got a local tyre place to swop tyres over, but I am really concerned about doing this as the tyre rig really "punches" the side wall in on extraction, and I am a bit worried about damage to the sidewall. Lexus seems to be atrocious in Snow - worse than Mercs or BM's in my view (having had both and never having had winter tyres before - with the Lex it's a must). For tyres I used www.mytyres.co.uk who were cheaper and excellent!!
