  1. Well, great news. I had a phone call first thing this morning from the other parties insurance company (Churchill) and they said their policy holder admitted full liability and that they were going to completely repair Lexie, they asked if I had a choice who should do the work and I asked for Lexus and that was OK. They also offered me a rental car or £27 a day while mine is off the road, I have opted for the money as I always have the wifes car to use. As I have had a rotten night of spinal soreness they will be offering me a sum of money for personal injury subject to doctors report and before anyone shouts that’s why we have such high insurance premiums, I have only recently just got over a slipped disc I also have a problem with the discs in my neck as I have walked crooked for most of my life and the discs in the neck have worn away so when they get shaken up then it becomes sore and painful. All that said I am happy with the outcome, so should it happen to you bare in mind that you don’t have to accept your car being written off just be polite and calm and you will get your car repaired even if its way past what the car is valued at. I will post up some pictures when she comes back home. Thanks to all of you that gave good sound advice and ideas. The LOC the best car club in the world. I have also found out why she hit my car, lets see who can be first to guess the reason. Please ring 0999 1236547890987654321. Phone calls will cost you the price of an LS600 and don’t forget if you use a mobile there will be extra charges from your mobile provider. Do not ring this number after the Dec 25th (closing date of competition) but if you do you could, no, will be charged still. Happy comping. Mike

  2. Well guys, I like to live for the day and tbh keeping a wonderful car like my Lexus at low miles isn't why I have the car at all ............... now done 163k and hopes to do at least 12/15k miles a year all the while I can. Probably done @200k miles in my Ls400s in 13 years now ... the best drive and motoring I have even known and hopes to continue doing just as many miles as I possibly can........... forever. Just contemplating my next year's adventure and tried to sort out shipping Lexii to Argentina for maybe a 6/10k mile tour next spring but it's seemingly nigh impossible to get the protocol sorted and there safely and to use my own car for the trip. .......... Ls400s are as rare as hens teeth there it would seem. So now looking at doing a Route66 USA trip, both ways maybe at @5500 miles and maybe buying a cheapy Lexus Ls400 in LA if I can get down to it and sort out the legal protocol stuff for USA too. Keep you posted ............. .. if you want !! Malc

  3. Looks like the nearside front or rear of the four sunroof drains are blocked, there is a drain on each corner. The sunroof is not and never was designed to be water tight so a metal pan sits under it to catch any water ingress, this is then drained by plastic pipes. If the car is normally parked on a level plain one of the drains is sufficient to allow escape of water from the sunroof pan. The fact your car was parked in a position that allowed access to only two of the drains on the nearside means one of them or even both are blocked by muck and detritus The water as oveflowed the pan and run down the interior of the ceiling panel then down the interior of the side panels into the footwell. Remedy; Feed a thin wire through the plastic pipe that exits in the boot side compartment. That will clear the back. The front is a little bit harder to get at because the pipe exits through the crumple zone the front wing sits on and the exit is hidden up inside the wing, the entrance to the top of the pipe is really tight in at the front corner of the sunroof .

  9. Maybe at another Lexus stealer of course, they often pool the stock .................... hahahahaha on the dopey price though. We all know that if we had a P reg 62k miler it would last at least another 20 years ....... and a 62k miler would only cost about £1500 too....... vide GBNeil's car and the real actaul value eh !!! 10. Much as I'd love that to be true Mike, the credit goes to Mark (Cruisermark), think the confusion arose as I quoted his post, including the three pictures, and commented one line at the end, agreeing with you about the superb finish.

  12. Just need to go over them with polishing mop and compound to shine up. At least now if I get any future kerb rash I can easily repair using my dremel. Think I will invest in a set of winter tyres and stick them on the lexus

  14. Bad luck Mike, 2 years ago a friend borrowed my Vectra (53 reg) and someone went into the back. The insurance company wrote it off, and offered me whatever the market value was. I accepted that but then bought it back. I bought a bumper from ebay and had a local guy fit it and do the rest (really only superficial damage) I ended up with a cat c but like you don't intend to sell. In the end I had over £1,000 in my pocket after the repairs! Before and after pics.

  15. Thanks masha, I did what you suggested and it worked to a certain degree, we have rubbish signal around our area and that's why it doesn't seem to work very well, will just carry on with FM for now, hopefully the signal will improve before FM gets turned off!

  16. I had this with mine but it could be a number of things I resolved a squeel with mine a while ago. I knew it was coming from the rears so I took the wheels off and spun each one. I found that a small metal brake pad locating tab on the caliper itself was not seated properly and was rubbing on the disc and creating the squeel. Squeeling was only noticeable at low speeds. I took the pads out and resat the metal guide. All OK now

  17. You 100% right Disco stu VVTi is nothing like Honda VTEC and does not kick in at a certain rpm. am surprised most guys in the previous posts where going on about it kicking in. VVTi is always on i.e the engine is always on 'cam' and it advances or retards the phase of the cam for best performance or economy based on pedal position and other factors. the kick whcich is felt is known as Acoustic induction control System, it just lets in more air by opening secondary intake manifold ports once a certian rpm is reached and that surge in of air gives that 'kick' effect. http://www.lexus.com...odel=All#active in a nut shell VVTi works by altering the time or duration the intake valves open, i.e either earlier or later and VTEC works by altering how far or low down the intake valves travel when it kicks in. they both achieve preety much the same goal. if VVTi cam advances and opens earlier and closes late, then more air will be sucked into the cyliders..if VTEC causes the cam to to travel down further at a high rpm, then more air will be sucked into the cylinders becuse the valve is travelling down further or staying down further than it should. by the valves travelling further down and coming up is called the 'Lift'.. VVTi does not lift.. VVTi helps build more tourqe in any rpm and VTEC helps build more torque in just high rpms hence VTEC's can rev to 8-9000rpm. Toyota VVTi is Hondas iVTEC = cam duration phasing Toyota VVTLi is Honda's VTEC = cam lobe changing

  18. switch on ignition to level 2 (do not start engine), and go with every window to the middle and back to the top. This will "reinitialize" the windows. Don't ask me why this is needed... btw RTFM :winky:

  19. I think, you musst press every button (of windows) of every door and the windows must from down to top. Then your buttons of the driver-door will be working...
