  1. Been on holiday for a couple of weeks in sunnier and warmer climes and only remembered on my return the MOT had expired during this time. Gave it the once over on Friday and got it booked in for today. Just called in and yet another pass with no advisories :)

  2. I have been looking around to change the grill on my IS250 SE-L but couldn't find anything that I wanted. Alot of the American sites that sell updated grills are ....well......awful, all tend to have far too much chrome going on. Those on Ebay I just kept coming across were knock offs either plain or carbon which looked okay, but after I contacted a guy in the US who had bought one and then forwarded me some pics, decided it was not for me. I like the grill on the IS-F and Ahmed's grill thread where he managed to make a grill fit from an IS-F was just what I was looking for, and so started to look around for an original IS-F grill. That's when came across this grill on Ebay US, specifically made for the IS250 manufactured by Konzept Automobiltechnik and taken from the IS-F style......Perfect! The quality is quite good and actually better than I expected, the only thing was that I wanted to use Carbon inserts and so the front section had to be made solid or the insets would not fit into the "L" emblem, hence my work so far below. This is the IS-F style grill for the IS250 the quality is pretty good, obviously copied from the IS-F original and molded into the IS250 fitting. With the removeable "L" piece, I would say because of the way it has been molded the "L" piece is seperate. If you were using this with the OEM standard "L" emblem you would need to glue this piece in place, but it is a good fitting. 3mm plasic sheet from Ebay to make the centre piece. Shaped centre piece, filed and sanded with wet and dry, quite easy to do. Glued in place with two part epoxy resin, ready for filler. Filler started, more to do then more sanding etc. In primer after a few rounds of filling & sanding. Ready for Satin Black and "L" emblem. Carbon inserts. After a few coats of Satin Black. So I bought the Black Pearl emblems and have to say they really are nice, here is the finished grill with the carbon inserts, just need to fit it now and then change the rear emblems to match. 8. mine too, but the earliest I could have had one would have been in 1989 I guess and then it would have been impossibly beyond my reach ............. as a new one would be today too But hey, each of those cars was brand new once and looked after impeccably too .... I don't mind others cast offs when it comes to Lexii Malc

  13. Hello, The most likely cause of this type of fault is usually associated with: A. a short circuit somewhere in the wiring loom where a permanently fed live circuit has been breached and is now making contact with an ignition or auxiliary fed circuit. B. a short circuit in an electrical or electronic component that is also causing a permanent live feed to remain present in a normally switched service. C. a component such as a relay or other switching device that would normally disconnect a switched service, but who's contacts have stuck or welded together, keeping the feed live. If you feel confident enough to try to locate this problem, I would start by removing each fuse in turn until you come across one that will switch off ALL of the affected services. (not just one of them as this could be the designated fuse to that one particular component) This is a very difficult and exact procedure that should be carried out by a qualified Auto Electrician, but if you intend to go in blind, then please take particular attention to the following points: 1) IMPORTANT! if your battery drains to the point where you can not restart, then please, please, please...DO NOT use jump leads to try to restart. Any surge experienced by either your own car or the donor vehicle during connection could cause a catastrophic failure in any of the ECU's in either vehicle. For safety's sake, remove the battery for bench charging - or at least, disconnect the battery's earth lead. 2) when replacing the battery after charge, leave the earth lead connection until last. 3) when removing fuses during your diagnosis, DO NOT disconnect any fuse or component associated with the air bag system 4) be prepared for some inconvenience should the security system and immobiliser loose it's programming and prevent you from restarting due to lock-out. 5) should this problem suddenly appear to right itself, it should not be left. It will most certainly return at some point -usually at the most inconvenient time. I am sorry if this seems to be a gloomy message, but I cannot recommend more highly, that you seek the help of a qualified auto-electrician. Kind Regards, Eric (Auto-Electrician)
