  1. Had my second hand back box fitted this morning she's wisper silent again, big smiles and a even bigger bonus is that i was having probs with my gearbox, not changing very smoothly guess what the exhaust must have been causing it as now back to silky smooth changing. I had it in a gearbox specalist and they couldn't find any problem showing they were scratching there heads so it must of been the back box causing the prob.really happy now she's back to normal.

  2. Totally with you Malc - I sold my LS400 last year and have replaced it with an LS430. Something strangely addictive about owning and running these cars and it's not something other car drivers would understand until they drive and own one of these LS cars

  3. My advice would be to sell one of the others. .......... I just cannot imagine living without an Ls400 .............. but I have had one for 13 years now ...... would feel like chopping off an arm :doggy: Malc

  4. I'm pretty sure that Aisin is the OEM for lexus water pumps.

  5. BluePrint and Aisin are both reputable brands - Aisin are an actual parts manufacturer - I suspect BluePrint buy stuff from all sorts of manufacturers (as do all Japanese car manufacturers) and package the stuff under their name, but they provide their own guarantees and are well established and respected. Check compatibility carefully - I haven't looked in detail, but those two pump listings quote different years - it may be that the pump has changed (or it may be that it has been revised, but a revised pump will fit earlier cars). I dunno.

  7. Addictive, yes, Every time I get in it, I marvel that I have one of the best engineered and built cars on the planet. Traffic queues, missed turnings, whatever, I don't care, I'm cruising in quiet and comfort. I've said I want to be buried in it, and I'm only half kidding

  10. For what it is worth, in December 2013 Lexus Reading supplied a water pump for £120, fitted it for £99 and sorted the coolant after so that was around £250 with the VAT on an IS250. I thought it was fair and I needed it done quickly at the time and certainly wasn't in a position to find my own and fit it. Thanks

  11. They're both correct. The first is for an IS220D, the second for an IS250. They have completely different engines, hence completely different water pumps!

  12. Phil, thanks for the link, but at £45 each (plus £15 postage) I've decided I can live without my bit of bling! As to all comments regarding the new EU regs coming our way, the sooner we leave this interfering bunch the better.

  13. You can go to an exhaust specialist for far cheaper than a dealer so exhaust issues shouldn't worry you. I also think 4k let year is ok. The only reason to go for extended warranty is peace of mind. The choice is as simple as if you can afford to do it why wouldn't you? If it's a stretch for you the car has pretty low mileage and you know a good Indy so may not be an issue. Welcome to the forum :) Stu

  15. Hope you enjoy your new S-class. After a couple of Granada's, my first luxury car was an 380SEL - felt like a barge, but I loved it! The new luxury cars are now in a different league - air suspension with all the toys to keep us boys happy. When I was looking for a car to supplement my SC, I went for the LS due to it's quality and rarity. I love my LS but can understand the purchase - hope you enjoy it. :-)

  16. Studying religion briefly as you say you have, really puts you under the umbrella of "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing" I've tried to study and understand different religions for the past 20 years. The one that concerns me most is the increase of Islam. At the heart of it, it is not a religion of peace. The so called "prophet" was a man who murdered everyone that stood in his way, and taught his followers to do the same. Compare that to Christianity where Jesus taught his followers to love their enemy. The two largest world religions are in total opposition to each other. Of course some awful things have been done in the name of Christianity, but these have not been done in accordance with the bible, whereas the atrocities carried out by many Muslims have been carried out in accordance with their book. Misunderstanding, or misrepresenting God doesn't make him any less real.

  17. Yes, I am studying philosophy, in my fourth year, and although I am an agnostic who leans toward aetheism, I have a deep interest in religion, and studied it, albeit briefly, for a term, last year.. I would point out that almost any world religion has a huge degree of ambiguity built into it so that it is, in my opinion, a one size fits all moral guidebook...the problem with that is the ambiguity allows many translations and interpretations, and these translations can be tailored toward the ends of a minority of individuals world wide...ask yourself, how many innocent indigenous people the world over, how many innocent men, women and children have died the world over for as long as we care to remember in the name of Judaism, Catholicism, Islam and Protestantism? Historically, an untold amount. I have nothing but respect for our armed services, they do a job I could not and goto fight where they are sent. My problem is with misguided, crooked or sycophantic politicians who bravely take these decisions for them, in Iraq alone there have been over 100,000 civilian casualties from 2002-20013 from the result of 'allied' bombing...yet the situation seems to have worsened...so, the solution...more bombs...Albert Einstein said his definition of insanity was doing the same thing over an over and expecting a different result....he also said there were only two things he knew to be infinite, the universe and mans stupidity...he then added, but I'm not sure about the universe....I think the application of his first definition gives truth to his second, don't you? I do not consider myself to be someone who is cleverer, more morally correct, than anyone else...I would never shove my views down anyone's throat...people may have different opinions to me and that's cool, but I'm pretty sure we could sort our differences without it coming to blows...it doesn't seem to work that way in the global scale sadly..

  18. It is recommended that the engine ECU is reset after any engine performance modifications have been made to the vehicle, including using a higher octane fuel, to accelerate the learning of any new parameters. Resetting the ECU will also clear any stored error codes, however if you have a fault with your vehicle it is advisable that these codes are retrieved rather than wiped as they may help in diagnosing the problem. Make sure the ignition is turned off Remove the engine bay fuse box cover Remove the 20Amp/25Amp EFI fuse Remove the 15Amp ETCS fuse Wait 30 seconds Re-insert the two fuses Install the fuse box cover It is also possible to reset the engine ECU by removing the battery. Please note that this method will also reset any memory settings such as radio presets, trip mileage, clock etc. For hybrid models please seek further information
