  1. Clarkson said the LS400 is boring, that's because with the German cars there's always something to do, like repairing them for instance!

  2. Never seen this one before, so that's how my seats looked from new then and what the needle looks like with a full tank of fuel :) I like the end comment "Call Freephone Lexus and we'll bring you one around" might try that.

  4. £297. The next highest quote was £195. The majority were between £100-£130. Scrap value round our way is about £85 per ton. Considering I paid £585 14 months previous, I was quite happy.

  5. I remember visiting Mousehole on holiday as a kid in our family car-- a Saab 96 with an 850cc 3 cylinder two-stroke engine. Brilliant car. Lovely quaint place too.

  6. I think it just comes down to health of the battery and usage. Parasitic power draw should be consistent, I don't believe multiple cars are all suffering from an issue. One thing I did find on my OEM battery was that dirt easily collected on the top of the battery, and within a groove running along the top, which combined with water spillage when filling up the washer reservoir. This created a circuit between +ve and -ve which increases the parasitic draw.

  8. That is so true. I missed out on a black one that went for sale at Arnold Clark in Scotland a few weeks ago. Sold on the same day it was advertised. It was on at a good price. You have to be quick. I check auto trader etc twice maybe three times a day now.

  9. The reccommended belt change is dependant on the owner paying at that time around £600 on top of the service. There should be a white sticker(if done by Lexus) on the front of the engine compartment showing the date and mileage as to when or if the belt was last changed. You might run into the dreaded data protection hurdle on previous history of the car.

  10. Thanks I have sourced a possible secondhand cap and filter housing maybe as you say its not listed as a separate part on a parts list. The part not numbered on your image is held onto the block by 4 bolts. I think the only option will be getting the second hand unit and fitting that, hopefully I can get a gasket or seal, or make a gasket or source a seal. I have worked on some pretty big stuff in my time and come across some stubborn filters but this takes the biscuit. I would like to have a word with whoever put it on and maybe tighten his/her nuts!
