  1. Given how Sat Nav tech has moved on since the advent of disc based system, would money not be better spent on a Tom Tom and then just update the Tom Tom memory as needed. Back when the 430 was invented Sat Nav was really in it's early stages of 'getting it right', so a 2004 hand held Sat Nav is going to beat a 10 year old car based system hands down. Appreciate it makes the LS touchscreen a little less useful, and you have a bit more clutter on the console. I would see if Argos have got nay special offers on, and if you need updates on a regular basis get a contract. As for me I still (perversely) enjoy the tactile feel of the good old paper atlas, and preparing ahead, and in last 35 years of driving have only ever got lost twice in the UK and twice in USA, and never in Europe - though had an interesting experience in Spain 3 weeks ago when using a 5 year old map of Andalucia to navigate and ended up driving the Hyundai holiday rental along a dirt road for 10 miles, only to discover later that a current map had the road removed!!

  2. Wow, can't understand why your car needs new discs every 20k miles. Mine seem everlasting ( almost ) Malc

  3. Or if its a very small hole, just get your local engineer to weld the hole, at least then it is stronger.

  5. You can try such a bandage http://www.feuvert.fr/reparation-echappement/holts-bandage-echappement-holts-gun-gum/p42448.html Very easy to find in France even if you can't speak french. Good stuff for the price, I had one on my previous car and it can last more than 20000 miles.

  6. Anthony: If you are using 'Calais' for your journey, on your return give yourself about an extra hour driving time,I was in france last week and around 1to2 miles from the ferry the trafic was stop start right down to the customs post.the problem is about 80 illegals were trying to get into the wagons they would step out into the road causing them to stop, then two would open the container doors and others would climb in and the doors were closed again.I counted 9 people going into a container, and the doors were closed, we eventualy got on the ferry with a few minutes to spare before she sailed--and I mean a few minutes.

  7. Nice looking car. But for me I would never want an automatic so although I have been tempted by the GS that has always put me off. But yes cars are very much a personal taste like everything in life, food, art, music, films, books, holidays etc, the secret is to find what is best for you but also never be afraid to try new things. I like the fact I live in a town of 200,000 people but there isn't another car that looks like mine in paint and wheel colour, how many can say that of a standard spec car? The downside of course is that everyone knows its me!

  8. I like this bit I think it would be pretty easy to find a 2012 car that has only done 13.000 miles. Did they let the work experience type that up? And Chris' car was a 2013 wan't it? This states a 2012. I'm confused.

  10. If you're not a motor trader then the value of any car depends on only one thing. If you are selling, then you will notice how much the value has dropped . If you are buying, then you will notice how much the value has risen. This rule generally applies to all makes and models. Another rule which generally applies relates to the timing. It is always better to buy/sell a car, Yesterday or Tomorrow.
