  1. That readout looks very wrong on some measurements, especially the castor and rear camber. Think logically though, both castor readings are about the same 7degree out toward the front of the car, unlikey that both sides would move the same distance out of spec. Add to this the rear camber, again a similar reading out of spec. I would think the equipment was not set correctly. The steering wheel should be straight before the alignment starts so they can ensure the setting is done, not straight after also suggest incorrect testing. I know this does not answer the original issue of tyre wear. Only thing i can think of for the wear is worn bushes or hub bearing maybe

  2. Good news for the weekend. My local dealer has received the go ahead from Lexus for the work to be carried out at their cost. It will mean the car being off the road for a week and me having to make alternative transport arrangements. I am happy that Lexus have agreed to accept responsibility and that they have done so quickly. I remain proud of owning a Lexus as it does what I need from a car in many ways. I also feel less part of the herd in a Lexus as I might do if I drove a BMW or an Audi. From what I see, I am also convinced that Lexus owners are more considerate drivers than others. All in all, I expect that reading this posting, you all share some of these thoughts about your Lexus. Thank you again for your thoughts and contributions to my posting. I will update as and when the work is done.

  4. From my experience if I need to get a full alignment I go to my local auto-body place that does crash repair and they do a good job. They have no interest in selling my tyres. So had a Mk2 fully checked out 4 years ago and tyre wear was sorted. A year ago had the Mk4 done by ATS and they had to adjust the camber and tracking and because the tyres were badly scrubbed it was hard to tell. Now I have a new full set on and will be looking for any problems very closely, to see if ATS set up is still good and will be getting the tracking checked for first 1000 miles on new tyres (sometime in next two weeks) By the way the auto-body shop said cars like Honda and Lexus are nice to work on because the adjustments are easier to do than on most other motors they do.

  6. Thanks chaps. I'm thinking I might book it into Wheels in Motion (the guys who addressed the IS200 geometry issue). Hope you're sorted soon, Mike (human and car geometry!)

  7. Yes it is a private purchase and you are spot on about a slightly used Premier as I have just started looking in that direction, I have also stared looking at the GS which seems to have all the equipment I need.......

  9. Just picked up on this thread ........... I know it's a long way from you but I had mine done at Treadmark Tyres in Canterbury, when I bought the car tho', just over 3 yrs ago now. AND they are brilliant at what they do. Very expensive piece of kit AND they have someone who knows how to use it. Malc

  10. If you aren't getting the full warranty cheaper than £995 then you can wait and just purchase later which will give you more time to think about it, and save some money. The two year price is good until the end of the year according to the Lexus website so don't let a dealer pressure you. http://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/warranties-repair/#/ExtendedWarranty Whilst these warranties have recently changed from 12 months to 24 months it doesn't actually state this is an offer with an extra 12 months free - this may just be the new standard terms and Lexus had to reduce their old costs to remain competitive, and it also makes owners continue with Lexus servicing as that is part of the T&Cs (no independent servicing allowed). Not sure if the £795 option is a Lexus warranty or just a dealer franchise warranty? Not seen any details of the £795 one. The £995 Lexus one provides you with AA membership for two people so factor that in if the other one doesn't provide that. The full Lexus warranty allows you to use any Lexus dealer and is fully transferable should you sell the car - again another thing to check against the cheaper option. I've not heard of any sat nav issues but if you had a screen fail, it would be £2000+ from Lexus to replace.

  11. Yes - that'll be correct. But if you're thinking of the one that's £15.99, why not look at the one from 'autoperformenceonline' (ap motor store). £5.00. Search with TF19066 - but all ap's IS250 parts are under that number. (I use their air filter too - also £5.00). The cabin/pollen filter is what I use - works perfectly well - after all, it doesn't affect the performance of the car! I can't tell any differnce between the genuine Toyota one and the pattern one. And even if you get asthma or hay fever - it's not really going to make that much difference! Don't forget to switch aircon to recirculate!

  12. You do have to handle those little round flat batteries very carefully if you manage to touch both the front and the back of the battery at the same time they can discharge instantly. Mike

  13. Gosh, Lexus owners really clever ! They know more about climate change than the IPCC, NASA, the UN, the US Global Change Research Program, the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment, and the HUGE majority of scientists in the fields of Physical, Chemical, Meteorological, Oceanographical, and Paleoclimatological sciences. I guess it's just coincidence that the 13 warmest years ever, globally, have occured this century (which is only 14 years old) - at the same time as the level of atmospheric CO2 is higher than at any time in the last 20 million years ? I'm not tree-huggy about this, after all I do drive a 4.3 litre car, but I do think it's time to stop denying it and perhaps take some responsibilty.

  14. Andy, ''I know if you look at any published mpg figures here in the UK they are nowhere near what you will actually get, yet if you look on an American site the exact same car will get significantly less mpg over there!!'' The US gallon is much less than the UK imperial gallon
