  1. He got the bloody price wrong John, the 795 price covers everything except the electrics of the satnav and gubbins in the cabin. the 995 one for 2 years covers the LOT I'm going back in a day or two to sign up on one or the other. Jesus holy crap it's fast though my god it turned my kids Chinese in the back! I set off from the dealer at 6pm tonight and got home at 5:30pm so actually went back in time........ I LOVE this car !!!

  2. I should perhaps have added 'under provocation'...dump the throttle in the wet and the wheels will spin up, dump it on a wet corner and hey hey, we have sideways....car is good as gold unless provoked, bit like poking a sleeping bear with a stick...

  3. You long-time owners know the LS is full of nice touches and attention to detail. But forgive this newbie for raving about something so trivial and so ... er ... 'intimately' useful! I discovered today that in among all the ventilation outlets on the Mk4, there's one dedicated to keeping one's "family jewels" fresh - just under the steering wheel. :D It's very effective, without quite being as high-tech as the LS430's ventilated seats. If the previous owner hadn't left the vent open, I'd have never known it was there. Might be a bit too cold with shorts on... The other pleasant surprise was 38mpg at about 50mph on cruise control (although I live in the flatlands of East Anglia, so it's as easy a ride as the engine would ever get). I should get 400 miles out of this first tankful; 310m so far with 1/4 left on the petrol gauge. One minor niggle discovered: a sniff of wind noise from about 50mph. I think it's from the top centre of the windscreen and I wonder if it's a less-than-perfect fit after a windscreen replacement?

  4. i'm surprised the CJC device does not have a left /right setting, we gentlemen can dress on either side, perhaps one's Lexus Dealer can change some computer setting somewhere?

  5. it's a good deal because the two year warranty cost is normally £995. Will they let you pay via 10 months 0% direct debit? Whether it is worth it is a difficult one, certainly if something on the engine/hybrid system goes wrong it will cost £1000+ to fix and there have been a couple of examples where this has happened but generally reliability is excellent.

  6. The 10" rear may cause you a problem. 98> have slightly more room to play with. I'm running 18s from an SC430. Didnt ruin the ride at all, don't know what people are talking about there. Tyre selection is so much better, I'm running 2 Pirelli P zeros and 2 Conti SportContact 3 tyres, so much grip! The standard tyres are dangerous in the wet, these give you so much more control

  7. Welcome to the club, Steve. It looks like yours is the "Sport" model with the bodykit. Congratulations! :) I too got myself a GS450h about a month ago, and I'm still learning to tame this thing! Enjoy your car. If it doesn't have a spare wheel, it has active roll control, which should make it that much more fun to drive!

  10. My tuppence worth...like him or not, the al gore film I felt was particularly well balanced, does not deny that warming is cyclical,,but points out how much more warming etc has been caused by people and actually shows in idiot proof terms how, and why...it's easy to dismiss people like him as failed politicians and drum bangers with their own agenda BUT.."gore was independently wealthy before his political failure...he will be financially secure thru his pension as ex vp of America also....and it is pretty much political suicide what he continues to do..so I doubt it's self serving....if you haven't watched it please don't judge on the other knee jerk reactionary stuff that has been made. It's a grown up film with honest, clear opinions and facts. Perhaps this is a bit contentious for some but I honestly believe that global warning deniers will become as historically decried as holocaust deniers. This is happening.....can we stop it...NO....can we slow it down and try to get it back to its natural, cyclical rhythm...yes, to an extent....the Kyoto treaty etc...is important and the fact that America still had not ratified it in 2008 is indicative of the land of the free's wholesale disrespect for everyone else's freedom....but then, we knew that, didn't we... As for wind farms etc, I don't know enough to argue but from what I have read, I broadly agree with you bluesman, this is blind alley technology and akin to shutting the gate after the horse has bolted...the real futer lies in renewables, perhaps tidal energy generation and wind power does contribute, but not nearly to the level that some would have us believe....the technological advances made by diesel and petrol engineers is incredible, and electric cars have made bounds that make our present cars slow evolution from Karl Benz' first horseless carriages to the Maclaren p1 akin to the progress of a one legged man in the world ***** kicking championship....ie slow, and unsteady....if electric vehicles keep improving at this rate they will become viable for all Now, im off to have a 50 mph , 36 mpg cruise in my ls400 and LI will feel good because I am not contributing to the created man made consumer cycle....

  11. Gosh, Lexus owners really clever ! They know more about climate change than the IPCC, NASA, the UN, the US Global Change Research Program, the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment, and the HUGE majority of scientists in the fields of Physical, Chemical, Meteorological, Oceanographical, and Paleoclimatological sciences. I guess it's just coincidence that the 13 warmest years ever, globally, have occured this century (which is only 14 years old) - at the same time as the level of atmospheric CO2 is higher than at any time in the last 20 million years ? I'm not tree-huggy about this, after all I do drive a 4.3 litre car, but I do think it's time to stop denying it and perhaps take some responsibilty.

  12. Registering just sets a position in memory, the advantage is you have quick access to the home destination. Cannot remember the exact menu option to press, hopefully somebody can advise. I recommend to set your home a street or two away from where you actually live in case you have your keys are stolen and a thief uses the car to find your house and break in.
