  2. It's not just the later model that had this feature, my 1994 also has the "Crown Jewel Cooler" which from now on will be refered to as the CJC device so I'm guessing it is a feature across the full production period. One thing you won't find on UK specification models is the Emergency Flare Holder fitted to Japanese specification models

  3. All I know is that since the world went 'green' our Government sees 'environmental issues' as a heaven-sent opportunity to tax us to death. I'm still convinced that mankind's contribution to any global warming events are miniscule and the effects grossly exaggerated. It's scare-mongering at the highest level. Russian climatologists say a mini ice-age is on the way. Enjoy your LS before the blizzards arrive, that's what I say!

  5. Of course the IPCC, NASA, the UN, the US Global Change Research Program, the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment, and the HUGE majority of scientists in the fields of Physical, Chemical, Meteorological, Oceanographical, and Paleoclimatological sciences and many other agencies too many to list are all on message because they are making huge fortunes out of it. If you are happy believing what they tell you then thats fair enough. As LS owners especially those who run their cars on LPG do more for looking after this planet than those who drive around in Toyota Prius's and others like it thinking they are doing wonderful things for the planet, that is of course if you dont factor in the amount of polution created in making their cars in the first place especially the batteries and of course the the pollution caused once these batteries have reached the end of their lives, they are driving a lie. Keeping a car like the LS in good condition, serviced regularly, running on LPG is the greenest thing you can do. You bet us Lexus owners are cleaver. Mike What started the last ice age? Mike

  6. Hate to spoil anyone's enthusiasm, but not many people now believe Al Gore to be a reliable source of information or insight. His reportage in that film was so selective as to be unbalanced. Climate matters are a good deal more nuanced than he gave the impression. Admittedly mankind is wasteful and we often have a damaging impact - but the factors causing climate change are dominated by the sun and the oceans, not by carbon dioxide. Driving quality cars, as Lexus drivers do, generating most electricity by nuclear reaction, helping poorer nations to develop as we have and spreading health and literacy, will achieve far more than Al Gore's simplistic and mistaken notions ever will. 7. Simply way around this. Sell the Nissan and buy another LS with LPG fitted. Best of both worlds.

  9. Interesting to see that diesels are now being recognised for what they are; diseasels. LPG happens to be the cleanest, greenest way to go and for the time being, the cheapest too. As for Al Gore , I'm afraid I'm in the Jeremy Clarkson camp as far as the environment is concerned--- not really that bothered to be honest. Climate change is cyclical. It was warmer here in Roman times than now, followed by a mini ice-age. Must have been all those diesel 4X4 chariots they were driving!

  10. Ive been keeping track of my mpg since i got the car on the road. Ive been filling the tank to the first click each time and noting the miles and litres. first i got 28mpg mainly around london and a 160 mile stint on motorways at 80/90mph. I was expecting less mpg do was really happy with this. the second tank was all motorways and cruising around 70mph and i got a massive 36.5 mpg, oh and this was with 1 passenger and a car full of camping equipment! I have decated the pre cats on the exhaust manifold but have left the main cat in. I have a pair of hks hiper back boxes. Running on 18's and lowered on d2 racing coilovers, which should make little differnce to mpg. i just thought id share my findings as some people have been struggling with 21 mpg and i was worried mine would be less with all the extra weight.

  12. Thread resurrection - thanks to Mr Savage who recommended his garage in Sandbach, I had the job done for £250. Really pleased with the price, quality and relief at finding a garage who were happy to do the job with LPG fitted. It was a lot of unbolting and bolting together but I now have confidence again when turning the key!

  13. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Although the car is out of warranty have you considered contacting Lexus pointing out that a 5 year old car should not be suffering from these problems and seeing if they will assist in sorting the problem? Once a DPF gets clogged fully there is very little apart from replacement that can be done but before replacement other possible issues which may have caused the problem initially need to be investigated. A faulty EGR another common fault on the 220d can contribute to DPF failure amongst other things. There are specialist companies which claim to be able to clean DPFs but dependent on how clogged its is. There are also fuel additives which claim to clean them. Another option is to have the DPF guts removed and then just refit the casing so as far as the MOT is concerned it's still fitted and will pass.
