  1. Hi chaps Having owned my ls430 for a few months now I seem to have fallen into a trap that I'm sure you can sympathise with. The lexus was bought for occasional use due to the highish running costs. I also own a Nissan sports car that was meant to be my every day car and the wife also has her car which was supposed to the second general option. However every time I reach for a set of keys I find my hand gravitates to the lexus fob and a grin appears on my face. A knowing smile also appears on the wife's face when I collect her from the station in the "wrong" car on most occasions. It's just such a joy to be behind the wheel that my "proper" car hasn't moved for two months and it may well be sold and the cash used for running costs for the lexus. So much for my brilliant plan!

  2. Thanks for the replies. Colin. From what you say mine seems to be fine. thanks for the reassurance. Mark. Under acceleration the engine is not so quiet but it is a v6 against a v8-- and it's not loud enough to objectionable, more a different sound rather than too loud. Around town the overall noise level is I think a little lower due to the use of the electric motor rather than petrol engine. Road noise is not really an issue though I assume it may change depending on the tyres fitted, currently on Michelins. As it has wider and lower tyres than the 430 I think getting the tyre choice right will be important, better not going for a chunky tread rather a ribbed one. As far as I an concerned the quality is still right up at the top and I certainly have not rattles or squeaks, other members have complained about dashboard rattles but mine doesn't, fingers crossed that it stays as it is. I think you need to drive one as it is different to the 430, and it all boils down to opinion and taste. Graham. Yes it's still a Lexus just a different variation. I think it is different enough to be judged for what it is rather than to compare with the LS. I have nothing but praise for the cars I have had and like you will certainly not knock them. I did consider joining you with a 600 but due to having to buy 2 much lesser cars for work (Hyundai I20s) I could not really afford one at present and I had decided I wanted to try a hybrid so the GS really picked itself. Who knows perhaps I will back in a 600LS in a couple of years too. Pete

  3. There is no need to worry about LPG/cylinder head problems. These engines have hardened valve seats which mean the LPG dosent cause any problem. My present LS400 Mk 4 has been running on it for 6 years no problems. We have run my cars and my wifes cars over 16+ years on various cars and all without the need for Lube kits and not one has given any problem, two of the cars we still know and are still running strongly. 4. I've been happily married for 40 years but I'm in love again - with my LS430. But seriously, just for a moment, I've asked my local garage, which I trust, to quote for a cambelt change. They'll tell me tomorrow. What can I expect?

  5. The saga continues. Fitters arrived with a new screen ordered from Lexus using the VIN and VRN and Its exactly the same. So, not fitted. They are going to make further enquiries. I had the car serviced yesterday and asked Lexus Cheltenham to have a look at it. They were baffled as well and could not offer any explanation. I've emailed Lexus Headquarters UK and await thier response. Lexus Cheltenham are checking as well.

  6. Who cares, we all drive one of the best cars out there and anyone who buys a 200 for its fuel economy didn't do their research first. I get around 25mpg from V Power and wouldnt swap my car for one of today's super frugal clone boxes. Long live the IS 200!
