  2. I guess I knew it couldn't last for ever but am disappointed by the failure of my hybrid pump, sounds exactly the same a Hayne's GS450 did. 2 things have irrated me: 1 No warning, I thought not quite normal some time before the "Check hybrid" message came up (anybody know how you check a hybrid system in lane 2 of the M25?) The car was still running so I called Lexus MK only to be told "don't drive the car" so got it recovered. It seems the problem is made worse by driving it but I suspect the damage was already done by the time a warning came up, seems crazy it doesn't tell you to stop. 2 The car has had 19 Lexus full ( not essential ) services, is still under a service plan, out of warranty only because they would no longer cover it at 7 years of age but Lexus refuse to help with the cost of repair, still trying to make their profit rather than help a loyal customer of 10 years. So it seems this lovely car is headed for scrap as they want more than their trade in offer just before this problem occurred. Any thoughts ? oh and it passed the hybrid healthcheck very recently Will not own another expensive car, just lease now so always under a warranty.

  4. Well all confirmed for Tues delivery, only 2 more sleeps! Appears mine is coming from same dealer as Blisteringblue, RRG Bradford. Tried every trick to get it this wkend, but couldn't as it isn't officially register till Tues apparently. I hope they don't drive it too me, but this is probably the method of delivery apparently. So at least 100m on clock before I get it. :-( And Tues wiped out as a day of work! Will be sorry to see the trusty Astra go, 102k and still going like a train. That feeling will probably last till about 5mins after delivery..........

  5. Hi Eric Not worried about the oil ... just thought it would be a good record to see what's going on with different oils Will try Magnatec next and compare them both. Done a bit of reading and have found on a few web sites that the modern oil is designed to hold the sludge and dirt created within the running of the engine, hence the eventual dark colour - it will slowly breakdown and will slowly pick up the sludge, that's what I have found out why it changes colour. It also has additives in the oil to stop sludge / grime forming. I always use an engine flush before changing the oil, but now wondering what it actually does do as the oil to en extent does the same job to a point if the engine is clean to start with. So I may skip the flush next time just to see how quick the oil takes to change colour. Just doing it for a bit of info

  9. Cannot understand Lexus "disowning " you Tony. Methinks that Motoring Press should be informed (Honest John?), AutoExpress etc. Have you contacted the local Toyota dealer or the local Toyota Indie........a surprise might be awaiting you ! Regards John

  10. Congratulations :) :) what a lovely car Ganesh. I must admit, I have been toying with the idea of selling the Mazda RX8 and the Peugeot 407 Coupe and with the money get a GS450h .... but then I have still not decided ... :( I am trying to organise a meet for mid of August... come along ;) http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/92155-south-east-bluewater-meeting-kent-essex-london-sussex-15-16-17-august-2014/

  11. I usually use normal mode. Eco does not seem to affect the mpg; perhaps makes it worse and it turns off the air con also I have to press harder on the accelerator. With sport mode I find it can accelerate quicker than I expect and I end up going faster than I want. The red dials are cool but what is the point of a rev counter if you can't change gear? So I am happy to potter round in normal mode. What about you?

  12. Not just the agg and cost but the way it does not alert you when it is destroying itself, seems like a serious design flaw to me.
