  1. I must admit I don't know much about politics am sure we have all seen on the news what's going on in palestine I find it very disturbing that Israel can invade a country and kill innocent people and steal land and yet our governments won't do anything to help the Palestinians or put sanctions on Israel if it was any other country we would be up in arms about sanctions and getting involved

  2. Was passed by a proper rat rod in town today, chopped, low, ratty in Matt grey....and got to thinking....wouldn't the ls400 v8 be a superb engine for one of these....modern tech, old school looks....and almost 300 reliable horsepower...imagine the noise of short stack side pipes....il,get my coat....

  3. at 80k miles plus you have shocks, bushes, engine mounts all wearing. All will probably keep going for years but it just won't be a tight as a newer vehicle with less miles. I always smile when somebody states their 150k miles vehicle drives as well as the day it was new - chances are they never drove a new one or it was such a long time ago that you would never remember.

  4. http://www.lexus.co.uk/hybrid/#/AboutHybridDrivingTips this is the main one: To accelerate with optimum efficiency, use full throttle for a short burst of maximum power. When the desired speed is reached, lift off and immediately press the throttle again to put the meter in the eco zone to maintain your speed. I would amend that to read, lift off completely and then press the throttle again gently.....

  5. Water Pump - Circoli - £34.20 from EuroCarParts. Pretty much an industry standard - looks as though it has a metal impeller. Check that it comes with a gasket - you'll need one. Thermostat - dunno really - you could pay £22.64 for a Calorstat from onlineautomotive.co.uk - or £8.96 for a Nipparts one. Your choice! Not checked on shipping to Eire. I'd be interested to see a pic of the guts of the old pump - this shouldn't happen!

  6. Appreciate all the replies, I go through this every time I change a car, I have driven members of Jaguar, Audi & BMW forums to distraction, with some members still on medication.

  7. Hi Adam, first of all, welcome to the LOC. If I'm reading your post correctly, an individual bought the car from a Lexus main dealer last November, and is now selling it 8 months on. I'd wonder why? If the car still has 4 months warranty is it transferable? £11k would be a nice price to pay, but if the warranty is transferable, a 460 with 69k miles and full service history is worth the asking price. A few 56 plate 460's recently sold for £10k but mileage usually over 100k. Bear in mind road tax of £500. Push and pull all the knobs, buttons and switches, anything not working guaranteed to be a few hundred quid to put right. Recently sold my 460 after 4 years of ownership, they really are great cars. Good Luck. Graham.

  8. Condition first. Always condition. Ignore the year and mileage, just look at how well/badly it's been treated.

  9. I think your previous symptoms and this evidence point to just a failed water pump. It may well have broken up and now the seal and/or bearings have failed. It's probably all you need to have replaced, but if it has broken up you need to check that all the debris has been removed. (By making sure that a complete impeller can be made up from the bits) I'd strongly suggest you don't drive the car until it's been done!

  11. That's something my local MOT station haven't seemed to work out. Twice they have failed my GS for them being inoperable, which I then end up showing them as working fine as soon as I turn up to pick it up.

  14. Welcome to the club. Lexus owners in the main look after their cars so there are some very good ones out there. It is worth spending the extra for full history and lower mileage. Mine is coming up 10 years old now with 64k on the clock and is still the best car I have ever owned and have no intention of changing anytime soon. Take it to a specialist when you get it to check it out and if you look after it, it will last for years. Good luck.
