  1. Hi Thought you may be interested in my new front grill. I really wanted to make the change to a stainless steel grill. I have kept the original and bought a spare to try out the new grill. I am delighted with results , look forward to see what other SC owners think.

  2. Unfortunately it's not made by Lexus but Tamiya and I have to build it myself. Anyone else made this kit? What colour did you paint it? Thanks Paul.

  3. It is really easy to knock the wheel studs out And then just hit it with a wire wheel until you can see your face in the hub Now I have put it all back together with new pads and discs and it drives like a brand new car No knocks and no bumps at all

  4. Due to a longstanding disability which has just gotten worse over time, I got a wheelchair today. It's a folding self-propelled one, and I was afraid it wouldn't fit into the boot of my LS460. So with my girlfriend's help, we folded it up, and... it didn't fit :( The rear air-con bulge was just too much in the way... I was getting disheartened and considering swapping my LS460 for an RX450 or similar just to get the chair in, and thinking of how much I would miss it. Then found that my chair had quick release big wheels too. With them removed, the chair fits! The wheels also fit in the boot once separated So the LS460 SE-L does take a folding wheelchair, certainly if it's this one... http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003G9LR8G/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

  5. Even worse a School minibus! I don't normally approve of name and shame but given the circumstances and the fact the photographs were taken in a public place and displayed on a public forum seems reasonable to me.

  6. Sorry to hear the bad news, 1st thing is your OK with no serious injuries. As for the other driver I hope they throw the book at him, chances are the idiot won't be insured hence the reason for the premature departure from the scene.

  7. Make sure when installing you read the thread as when me and exdee followed the instructions the morror would only fold on double locking by pressing the lock button twice. However you can change this to fold on one lock by changing the wiring. Don't know if Michel has changed this on the instructions on the manual as the previous manual was for overseas Lexus. Just read the thread and you will know what I mean. I haven't changed mine yet so only locks on double click.

  8. I must admit I have never heard of self healing paint and I need to get myself a Nissan if it indeed never needs to be cleaned or washed. Self healing caliper pins do sound like an excellent ideal for any IS250 owner. I have encountered the issue with suncream in the past on another car and in my case it did not come out with polish.

  9. Hi ,just as a guide I pay £280 per year on my manual IS 200 2003 reg ; all good points raised on what to look out for,I would just say make sure you have a decent long test drive as it is not unknown for a dealer to turn off the engine management light and you get it back on half way home, and you need to get the engine good and hot .A good braking test from 60+ will show any disc /caliper/pin problems with vibration through the steering .Finally check out the CD multi changer they are prone to problems and the only real cure is a new aftermarket unit ,well documented on this forum Good luck Dave

  11. I know someone who has just paid road tax on a manual is200 and that was £230. For 12months, when I taxed my is250 in April it was £285. For 12 months but that's a auto I know that a is250 manual is about £470.00 ...I don't know if a is200 auto is cheaper !.....I still don't understand why the 250 auto is cheaper than a 250 manual cos it's got the same engine.....?????? 12. Expensive lesson learned! Just don't give them any more of your hard-earned. Ask around, mates etc., for a good independent who will do just as good a job at half the price. Sadly, when you use a main dealer you are going to pay top dollar just for the name. Doesn't mean they will do a better job.

  13. Two things (well three when you factor in the reliability thing) that made me want to pick up an IS was it's looks (always liked them from when I first remember them coming out) and the handling. Car might not be fast, but it handles extremely well for it's size and weight. So does the E46 BM mind, but I still prefer the IS over the E46... But I know exactly what the OP is getting at. If the IS was fast, the MPG and stupidly high tax would be overlooked, or if it was slow but got great MPG, it's performance would be overlooked. But to have poor performance AND poor economy - you just can't put it on paper as a good car! I still like mine though; nicest car I've ever owned. Still enjoy driving it, and it's never a chore. So still get's the thumbs up from me

  14. I miss the looks and performance - but certainly not fitting the head unit! Fitting instructions: 1. Ensure car is in 3rd gear. 2. Balance head-unit on gear stick. 3. Fit cables. 4. Stuff head-unit into slot (hard). Repeat steps 2 to 4 until there is sound coming from all speakers. If you've also got radio reception, consider yourself a professional installer. :P

  15. I doubt it would, actually. Magazines have a bias towards the Germans because: a) they advertise more in them; and b) reviewers are just more used to them.
