  1. Hi Shiner, I also own a 2004 LS430 with 65,000 miles on the clock. Like you I decided to have it 'sorted' and it is like a new car. I feel so different driving it now. The cost of the work wasn't too bad but the finished result fantastic, some of it was done under warranty and the rest I paid for. It was well worth the cost and effort. You just cant buy this sort of quality without selling your house now adays. I would have got very little in part exchange etc. so decided to keep it, bite the bullet and get it sorted out. Good luck with the project. Lord Jim

  2. Very likely Malc I bought my mark 4 with that very much in mind as it was mint with then 18k on the clock that as now gone upto 24k in two years and the car is just as it was when I bought it.In fact I have arranged an EL CID exit just now arranging the JCB to dig a grave big enough for me in the Lexus.

  3. And just one of the reasons we generally leave the 2010 ML350Cdi BE Sport sitting on the drive and take our 2003 Mk1 RX300 on most journeys despite the almost half fuel economy, its just a nicer place to be! Interesting that you rate the 7 year older Lexus a nicer car. I've been given 2 ML's as courtesy cars previously (when I drove Mercs) and whilst they look nice I simply didn't enjoy them. I definitely consider the Lexus plusher and IMHO the ride is more comfortable.

  4. Fat chance! In Autocar's test, on the motorway at 70-80mph, it averaged 32mpg! They did say they got 60mpg when the battery started off fully charged but they didn't clarify where/how they were driving. What Car said it averaged 39mpg on their 'True MPG' test, whatever that is. In fact, it is pretty much identical to the Lexus system, except the batteries are obviously much better (or more of them?) as they claim 32 miles on battery alone (Autocar managed 25). The only other difference is that you have more control - you can decide to let the engine only power the batteries and all drive to come from the motors, which would be good for town driving. So pretty good but 0-60 in 11 secs is a tad dull and all the reviews say it is old-school-diesel noisy and rides badly... Now, if Lexus could steal their battery design and bring out an RX500... :shruriken:

  5. Hmm interesting comment bearing in mind posts elsewhere. On another note, this delamination is new to me, is it really that common? Genuine question no sarcasm intended just thinking a second hand one might be worth the risk if its not common. I will keep my eye on this thread for the purposes of educating myself further.
