  2. Having just read the updates to this thread I thought I would offer my experience. I bought an ls400 from him to which he claimed the cam belt had been changed at 90k I was aware there was no paperwork to back that up. As a buyer it is my responsibility to check that. As there was no evidence to support it I knocked the price down. Lexus have since said there is no evidence on the car that the belt has been changed. He text me this morning asking what my issues were I told him and am satisfied by his responce. Being an engineer I identified on the test drive 90% of the issues and the rest I worked out on the the side of the road. The only thing that concerned me was the mileage. 117000. But the mot Certs show the mileage for the last 5 years and that backed up the photocopied service history. He was courteous pointed out faults (all beit ones i already knew) but I did feel a little uncomfortable about something but that was just me personally. I took a punt and bought it for 1250. In his text he offered me the money back in return for the car. I declined as I have put new disks and pads all round had the fob reprogrammed and it is going in for a new cam belt at lexus so will then know the car is good. I can only say in my experience I have few complaints and agree people should be honest but he is not alone and as a buyer we need to be on our guard and be as prepared as possible. I am not supporting nor slating him all I am doing is presenting facts which I think is more important and more useful to prospective buyers. I love my car despite its poor paint work and will buy another low mileage mint one when I can but only because I always intended to. Hope this helps

  5. That's what I would do. The car looks fab in the photos. If it were me I'd be putting the money away for an expensive rainy day, if you plan to keep the car for 10 years that rainy day will come.

  6. Thanks for reply, I've attempted to access a service menu on the system - by pressing upper left, lower, upper then lower right. This is after the DVD info screen. you have to press the display button first and then the top left, bottom left three times

  9. Hi all and especially you Matt-c Auto glass came and fixed the rain sensor...it happened to be the same guy who replaced the original screen. I challenged him as to why he had replaced the rain sensor. He said he hadn't! And I must have got the wrong end of the stick when he said he was changing the gel pad and not the sensor! So thanks a lot and the new gel Ad has worked a treat!...Everything works fine! My mistake and sorry to have wasted a few people's time!

  10. I doubt very much he would have given any explanations Though freely admitted to me in a pm that he wasn't the most should we say 'honest' trader & at the same trying to sell me a car As Ian says we will keep an eye out but if anyone does spot anyone suspicious please yell :D

  11. I remember one ad on eBay where a gentleman was recently selling an ls400, lexuschap won the auction and when spoke to the gentleman In person, lexuschap tried to knock off £200 because he didn't have petrol money, the gentleman had to re-advertise his car saying Due to timewasters Adamprogny who tried to knock off £200 from the bid he put in due to not having petrol money I've had to re-advertise. I'm glad he's not on the forum, we don't need people like that on our forum

  13. haha oh dear lexuschap - so a profile pic of Walter, a character of the famous ventriloquist Jeff Dunham, depicts myself? Assumptions only - much like your Ebay listings.
