  1. Unfortunately the level of service you get does vary greatly from one dealership to another. I am always happy to recommend Lexus Hedge End / Southampton. One thing for sure: they would never have a dirty / scruffy car in their showroom. The fact that a Lexus dealer lets you view a car in such condition and the fact that they had not even bothered to check it started before showing it does not say much for their standards.

  7. Hmmm..... let me see, Rover 75 or Lexus LS 400? Don't get me wrong, I once owned a Rover Sterling (Honda 2.7 engine/autobox). I enjoyed driving that car a lot but, nothing I've ever driven compares to the Lexy. It really is a no brainer. If I chose a Rover over a Lexus I would expect the men in white coats to cart me off!

  8. Congrats mate and welcome. I noticed that one (like quite a few others) had disappeared from autotrader. Love the blue in these, it really suits the design of the car in my view.

  10. Thank you, I shall endeavour too. The French rules seem to have changed ........ spare light bulbs don't seem to be compulsory, maybe coz with many cars one just can't change bulbs simply these days.............. And the breathalyser thingy has been abandoned too so I read. And in Spain it's only Spanish regd. cars that have to have two warning triangles BUT if you break down and need one, you are fined ( if British ) if you only have one and not two ! :outforcount: And for Grand Touring at its best. We drove 2888 miles in 15 days in September 2012, just touring Scotland ( there and back from Kent ). Twas brilliant and the car, of course, performed effortlessly ........... as one would expect. These really are Grand Touring cars Malc

  12. Yes that'll be the detuned ford mustang 4.6 litre engine producing 260bhp-again known to be tuneable up to 400bhp. With the Rover diesel they are known to take a long time to warm the interior in winter and with all models the ECU is situated behind the engine in the plenums which need regular checking as they can retain rainwater and flood the ECU. Anyway enough of the Rover stuff. Buy a good one and it will last. I like my Lexus.

  14. I see you are in Yorkshire. If the car is at Lexus Bradford, I would either speak to Jason Gregory or just walk away because the manager and other sales staff are awful and WILL NOT sort anything out. Leeds is another story, they are very very good!

  15. I've owned a couple of Rover 75s (petrol not diesel) and there is a great forum to glean info from.Diesel is chain driven so no belts to worry about.Manual clutch replacement can cost around £1K-buy an auto. There are 2 versions-114bhp and 131bhp.Choose carefully as the lower bhp is under powered. Can be upgraded with 'magic box' to around 160bhp. Some very high spec cars (Connoisseur and Contemporary models) with sat nav, cruise etc.Choose carefully -lot of car for little money.Well screwed together and loads of parts available. But not a Lexus as you can appreciate.

  16. Maybe they are Ls 400 breakers too, no bad thing with that sort of specialism ................ and selling the best of what they have. They might be good value too, but only feedback will tell us that............ maybe you will some time soon ???? :outforcount: Malc

  18. ok just to cover a few points 30 day no quibble, they may offer it but actually getting your money back is extremly difficult and they may also reduce the amount for any miles done flat battery this is extremly common on a forecourt, and 99 time out of 100 isnt an issue, it can affect ECU systems on cars and could shorten the overall life of the battery, but i wouldnt worry about it warranty most warranties have exclusions including ALL service items which would include the battery, brakes, exhaust etc, some even exclude 4x4 systems, if its a lexus dealer warranty, you should feel secure that everything of value is covered but the sales of goods act means the car should be suitable for what it is designed to do, and a 2-3 year old RX i would expect the battery to last at least a year so it would be covered for a year, but a £400 banger youd be lucky to get 2 days battery cover, let alone anything else used car sales are a nightmare when things go wrong and it all depends on the garage and customer attitude how things progress, best advice i can give any buyer/customer of a garage, keep friendly happy good terms, and they will look after you as they see you more as a friendly nice person than just another customer finally, you are more secure buying from a main stream dealer as they have more to lose and have to maintain manufacturer standards on both new and used, they get paid for maintaining higher standards from the manufacturer

  19. Sorry only just got back! I still think you'll have to take seats and parcelshelf out to restart bolts.when I worked at main dealers seem to remember stiffer torsion bars were available for is boot lids with spoilers to help lift them higher Sent from my GT-I8190N using Tapatalk

  20. I now see what the op ment by removing the rear seat's as the nuts are welded to the hing! Id be tempted to try and undo them from the boot without removing the seats by using and pair of mole grips. Mine are cracked so if they were welded and a plate added that would maybe help the boot open even more?

  21. Hi I think the problem os that the hinges crack where the torsion bar fits into the slot that's bolted to the body you can see in picture above the wrench so the boot wont pop up or stay up I've done loads of these and you do have to remove the rear seat and parcel shelf to gain access to the bolts that hold them to the body. Lexus thought it was a Good idea to bolt them that way!! Sent from my GT-I8190N using Tapatalk

  22. Ok, first of all you cant access the boot by removing the rear seats as there's a bulkhead there! Second, do you have a high 3 bar boot spoiler (see pic) Or this style? If you have the 3 bar one it wont open fully due to the extra weight of the bigger spoiler! If you have either of those nip and grab 2 x 5mm bolts and place them in the slot where the torsion bars fit into the hinge (see pic) Here's a vid i did after i fitted mine as mine only popped but never opened at all! http://youtu.be/zoblE-SXaXU More info can be read here, http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/79926-is200-boot-lid-springs/?hl=viagra#entry797133

  24. Get your self a Grom kit, they now do them that support usb and bluetooth! Had one before i swapped over to a mech less Sony unit, and if i went back to the standard headunit i would have a Grom kit without hesitation! 10-15 mins to fit and you wont lose the satnav! http://www.gromaudio.co.uk/
