  2. Good Afternoon All, I have recently purchased a IS250 SE 06 plate with Sat Nav, Mark Levinson, Sunroof and Leather Interior. My previous car was a Mazda 6 sport which I loved, but I must admit the Lexus is in a whole different playing field. It drives beatuifully and is very smooth. It is not the best for petrol but I was more than aware of that when I brought it and I will happily pay the extra for such a refined car. Bobby

  3. Hey guys, As it has been close to year now of me owning Lexus IS200 and having it on LPG, I can honestly say- it is worth it. Yes, I lost quite a bit of trunk as I need to have spare wheel in there... But it is not a major problem. During this year, I covered about 15000 miles. Not a lot, but still. To fill up my tank it costs £35- £38. Tank lasts for about 220 miles in London (and I cannot say, that I drive like a granny) to up to 260 miles when I went to Newcastle on Christmas. Power loss? Minimal, if any. On one hand, yes, it would be really nice to drive it on petrol and not to bother. On the other hand, the only difference I notice is green light inside vehicle and different place to put filling nozzle in. That's it...

  4. I agree with Jami that you should get a warning that the fob battery is low. Wroughtironron, your post is the first time I have ever seen any mention of there being a risk of the fob needing reprogramming after a battery change and the users manual gives comprehensive directions on how to change the battery (C2032) so I think that the risk of causing problems is very low. Maybe Timpsons had had a bad one-off experience. If you have a users manual, take a look at the section dealing with battery saving features of the fob as it could be that you are circumventing these inadvertently. The manual says that the fob needs to be within a few feet of the car to operate (and not un-set the battery saving options) but my experience is that the range is much greater. If you keep your keys within this range of the car then this could cause problems trying to unlock electronically. The fob battery should last a matter of years rather than months, although I guess that this could be much sooner if the battery saving feature is circumvented. Also, you should be getting a warning before the battery has completely expired as you still need it to start the car after using the mechanical key to get in. The mechanical key would set the alarm off but locking the car using this does not set the alarm so subsequent unlocks should be OK.

  5. Pete, thanks for the tip re Snow mode, I've found that does make a difference when you are doing up to 40mph as the engine is not reving as high in normal mode. Anything over 40 mph the car has gone into the overdrive gear. But as most of my driving is local we are lucky to get over 30 mph. By using Snow mode I've found we are getting an extra 10 -15 miles for the same amount of fuel we were putting in.

  6. You should get a notification on the dash for low battery before the fob dies on you. I wonder if there is some kind of interference around you that is depleting the battery at a faster then normal rate.

  8. Keeping the AC on all the time seems to help, not only does it cool the air but also remove moisture from it therefore keeping the condensation problem to a minimum. With the car standing for long periods it does make the problem worse. You could also try some packets of silica gel in the car to absorb moisture, dry them out in the airing cuboard and reuse.

  9. hi I had this problem about a month ago what I did was to warm up the car to full 30 degrees then clean the windows with professional glass cleaner and dry with blue roll ,I have also put these crystals in the boot and under the front to seats which soak up the damp (you can buy them from those pound shops) so far this has worked so im happy ,
