  1. Is there really any comparison worth considering ? WE all know the answer to whether or not we would drive any car other than our Ls400s, 430, 460s. Whatever the comparative costs etc. Malc

  2. I let myself down during the Christmas break. Travelling to a family event, a boy racer in his Mini Cooper came tailgating me on the A404(M) on the stretch leading to the M4. And, against my better nature I floored the accelerator, and watched the Mini rapidly become even more mini, behind me. I apologised to the LS430, reminded by the words of Peter Parker, "with great power comes great responsibility". It is now early January 2014....and three months on since I bought the X reg LS430. So, I have had a bit of time to make a preliminary assessment on what I think of the car. I honestly cannot stress enough how much that cliche "it's a lot of car for the money" applies to the LS430. After all the admiring looks and comments, the most common question asked is "I bet it's thirsty on fuel?" Well, yes - it's a 4.3L petrol machine....but make this sacrifice you will be richly rewarded. So far, so brilliant.

  3. Hello all, Thought I best introduce myself! Had my first Lexus about 6 weeks now, IS250 SE-L Auto in Obsidian Black 2007....abd I bloody love it! I came from owning a Jag to this car and the Jag has nothing on it! Such a special motor! I'm in my mid 30's but still like to mod my cars... Not too much, just to make it my own... Still planning what to change... I have a long list but I reality it's a bloody lovely car as it is! I'm sure I'll be asking questions soon! Merry Boxing Day ;-)

  4. Net it has to be cleaner to drive older cars. The amount of CO2 in manufacturing new cars is wasteful....

  5. It's a fantastic looking car Chris, the 300 is destined to become a classic in the not too distant future, the shape and lines are mouth watering. I love the stereo with all those functions and I would be very tempted to put exactly the same bit of kit in my own IS300 but sadly it has to go to make way for my new car which arrives at the end of the month. My wife says she has to go (the car Lexus that is!). As for the economy, I never expected anything out of this world when I purchased it, I just enjoy the extra power that's on tap whenever it is needed, so smooth and quiet. In all the years i have owned it can you believe I have never used the sport mode on the autobox or the manual option with the buttons on the steering wheel, I think they have a technical name for it...... Anyway Chris I hope you get as much enjoyment out of your 300 as I have had Ian

  6. Personally i would just buy another OEM headunit on ebay and get a GROM ipod type device for plugging in the ipod or aux. Some of those cheaper head units only have cheap surface mounted built in amps and are often not enough to drive the speakers. Although being a S spec it wont have the 8 speakers and external amp so i would of thought it would be ok. You could always buy a preamp and see if that helps assuming it has pre out

  7. It didn't feel that big a car to drive to be honest. ;)

  8. Hondaman, I think your best bet is to post the same question in a BMW forum. The folks over there should be able to give you proper advice on what it is like to own and run a 330i. As to how it drives in comparison to the IS250, I guess it's worth taking one for a spin and letting us know what you think. :) I completely understand your need for a slightly more agile car. I live in Milton Keynes, and having a less wafty car can be a plus with all the roundabouts over here. My job also requires me to travel to sites that are often located in remote and obscure locations - but they are connected by some really nice (and quiet) country roads, which can be rewarding to drive on in a well-sorted car without ever exceeding the speed limit. To somewhat answer your original question, I own both a BMW and a Lexus. And despite being the barge that it is, my 745i still out-manoeuvres my IS200. But discussing the driving dynamics of a BMW in a Lexus forum is the same as discussing the reliability of a Lexus in a BMW forum - it often leads to "amusing" replies :P Let us know how you get on. On another note, did you consider the current-shape Honda Accord as a possible replacement?
