  1. It's been a long wait, ordered on the 12th Aug. picking it up on Tues. the 17th, was given early Nov. when I placed the order so it's a month late and for that reason Lexus UK have given me 2 year free servicing.

  2. Great news, the local locksmith was able to create a new key to my car and even better is that it works. It does start the car and I can open and lock the door manually without triggering the alarm. So now I can use the key from ebay as wireless function and the new key to start the car and master key I can leave as spare key.

  3. Firstly the head unit is absolute quality in every way including sound quality and it is something to rave about Pete! ;) yes a faulty O2 sensor can cause poor mpg but not really when it's the sensor after the CAT that monitors emissions. The light is off at the moment anyway. Hasn't come back on in over a 1000 miles now. Hardly use m mode, always just stick it in D and go. No Stuart I sold my 200, only up for sale for a week and it went :) and no, no modifications now to this one, keeping it standard.

  4. Nice1 Chris. Like you said how can you turn it down at that price! Im one for the cream interiors, looks gorgeous. Not sure ide agree that A2DP is anything to rave about though? I had it on my headunit in my last car and the quality was aweful. And ive never believed a IS300 has similar MPG to a IS200 because realistically your never going to drive it like a 200 with that extra power on tap lol So how you liking the autobox? Do you use it in M mostly coming from a manual? Or are you getting sucked into the pleasures of a auto lol

  7. Well, the only things I can complain about with the 600h are: Tiny boot. There are better satnavs around. The wooden steering wheel looks good but is hard and slippery, I've had to put a naff looking cover on it. This is my second 600h. The first was the long wheel base model, I now have the short WB and much prefer it, although it has fewer toys, such as rear 'Ottoman Massage Chair' and drop down DVD screen in the roof, it just seems more agile and easier to park. I would encourage anyone to test drive both, if you can find the rarer SWB. Another thing worth having is 'Follow On' cruise control. With this you set it to follow the car in front when static in roadworks etc, and it moves off and stops with the car in front. I have 'Adaptive' CC which is great, but not as good, It takes a little time to trust it to brake by itself, but I use it all the time now on Mways without concern, I just pick a car going the speed I want, 70 say, set the CC to 80 and let the driver in front do the accelerating and breaking. If I had 'Lane Assist' I would be able to read the paper. (joking) I get 34 MPG on Mways or normal roads, so no complaints from a 5L V8. The fastest I've been in it is 130 mph on the autobahn. At that speed the engine was unstressed and humming like a sewing machine, and the car felt totally stable and safe.

  8. Looking at those pictures, absolutely ripe for Waxoyling. I'd just scrape any flaking paint and caked mud off with a blunt screwdriver, then brush it on thick. The light surface rust will actually help to absorb and hold the waxoyl in place. Messy old job mind.

  9. Cheers Dave. Yes, checked just about everything at my mates garage, between us we couldn't find anything that was obvious or even suspect so as mentioned it's going into Lexus for a service on Monday and they are going to have a look as well. Will post any findings. Thanks for your input.

  10. I think in olden times the MOT tester used to prod the rusty looking area to determine the extent of the corrosion and if the prod went in it was getting near to being a warning that repair was needed. Now I believe they aren't allowed to prod and therefore all and any looking rusty areas get a mention. Most " rust " like ours probably isn't anywhere near to being needing to be repairable and mostly, for cosmetic purposes, can be wire brushed and painted over to " protect " the areas concerned. Unlikely we have any " proper " rust at all if the truth be known. Malc

  11. Jeremy, all our LS's must look the same underneath as yours by now, i.e. showing signs of superficial corrosion. I went to work on mine with a wire brush and a tub of grease a few years ago. Seems to have held off the dreaded 'tinworm' for now. I'll check it again in the summer and reapply the grease if needed. I was careful not to get any on the suspension bushes or exhaust pipe though. My M.O.T. tester didn't mention anything about corrosion so it must have worked.

  12. Old car went as is Matt and has been sold. Couldn't be bothered with all that plus the TTE bumpers I had didn't have the headlight washer jet holes and I need them on the 300 as I have HID's. I didn't really like the interior either but after doing a few hundred miles in it it's really growing on me and is very clean for the cream interior. Also I have to say the seats are far far more comfy than the 200 and the car overall just feels better like it really is in a different league. It's so much smoother and quieter than the 200 :) :) No Ian, these Aeros came on the car, still got my old ones too so now I have 9 aero wheels! Thanks Barney, yeah I'll get to the bottom if the sensor problem. No doubt ;)
