Hi Rudy The reason being is that it is not an engine problem and therefore not under the engine light management system or fault coding, the gearbox does have its own fault code system but only in a recorded format. It sounds like you do have some issues with the gearbox but because it as not completely failed or gone into survival mode it is as I first suspected probably a solenoid issue. I hope it is and will show up on the Lexus diagnostic tool .Take it to Lexus to get a true determination of the cause.

  3. So there is an upside to being old. My first car was the E93a Ford Prefect 19 something or other, also known as a sit up and beg model. My second car was the 100E Prefect in Dagenham Ford Black with the number plate 6 MNU, wonder where that number plate ended up. Anyone know what Goldfish eat? better get down to Tescos and buy it some food.

  5. paper clip trick works on older lexus - not sure about the LS430 This suggests that it may have a built-in fault reader you access via the nav screen
