  2. I know this is a total Faux-Pas to put Chinese parts on my quality Lexus however............. I have just fitted my bonnet struts that I got from China and they are absolutely great I am really not messing. Even just one of them held the bonnet up really well whilst I fitted the other one. I am impressed

  3. Strangely enough happened to me for the first time yesterday, and it was my brother who didn't hear me pull up behind him. I think the suggestion to reverse into parking spaces, and in my case onto my drive, is very sensible indeed.

  4. Please name the insurer so that we may all avoid if we wish to.Regards John Admiral charge too http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/84136-fitting-smaller-wheel-rims-and-your-insurance/ Not according to ABI's own guide on the matter. https://www.abi.org.uk/~/media/Files/Documents/Publications/Public/Migrated/Motor/ABI%20guide%20to%20winter%20tyres%20The%20motor%20insurance%20commitment.ashx As long as you stick to manufacturers' recommendations regarding winter tyre specs, the vast majority of insurers do not even need to be informed of the fitment of winter tyres, and that includes Admiral. My enquiry to Admiral was concerning fitting smaller rims along with winter tyres. The administration charge was to modify my policy to reflect the change to the factory fitted wheels

  5. Agreed. Here is the link: https://www.abi.org.uk/~/media/Files/Documents/Publications/Public/Migrated/Motor/ABI%20guide%20to%20winter%20tyres%20The%20motor%20insurance%20commitment.ashx There is no need to inform the vast majority of insurers as long as you stick within manufacturers' specifications for winter tyres.

For those keen to join the convoy, here's a quick recap: Starts at Newport Pagnell services (M1, between J14 and J15) at 8:50am The convoy will also stop by the truck stop at M1 J23 at 9:50am (map) Should be arriving at Plank & Leggit at approximately 10:15am if all goes well. I'm all pumped for tomorrow!

  7. Washed mine yesterday when the skies were nice and clear. And then the car decided it was going to be Italian and refused to fire up. Starter motor just kept spinning away but little else happened. Yikes. It finally spluttered to life after many attempts, followed by a strong smell of petrol. No warning light on the dash and has been starting fine today. Weird. Was this close to turning up to Plank & Leggit in a BMW, which would have been ironic.

  8. Mines had its usual three hour clean to get rid of the 1,000 miles of grime and salt put on this week! So its factory fresh again. Just need to work out the best way out of the village to stop it getting covered in mud.

  9. I have recently renewed my warranty. One dealer quoted me £795 I think it was. I phoned a few more dealers and finally got it for £414 including 12 months full roadside assistance. very well worth a few phone calls.

  16. Haf, I too had an excursion away from Lexus after my very dodgy IS220d. Whilst I didn't go for the new IS (it wasn't out then - else I defo would have), I'm reasonably happy with the new GS. These new generation Lexus's are much better than any previous Lexus. Lexus Purists might not think so, but I do…for what it's worth. The problem is that once you've had german cars, whilst they might not be as reliable, they do have an appeal that Lexus is still striving for. not everyone feels this, but I do….I don't know what it is; whilst my GS does everything I want, I am beginning to pine for another Bavarian car….knowing all the hassle that goes with it. The dealers are rubbish; There's one in front and behind you on the outside lane of a motorway: They always cost a fortune to fix…. But I will resist….I will resist….I will resist temptation!!! I think when it comes to cars, you have to buy with your head, not heart. The problem with the Lexus is that it wins over your heart so quickly, and then all of sudden your head says do it!!

  29. LED's are not as dimmer friendly as halogen. If the flicker you refer to is what happens in the following video at around 09:28 than that is normal.

  30. I forgot to mention, if anyone decides to do this mod you will face the following issue after re-connecting the battery: The power Window Controls on the Driver's Side will not work after unplugging the battery. Dont panick, this is Normal. To rectify this, you will first need to roll DOWN then UP each window individually with the switch on each Door. Once this has been done, you will gain back the Driver's Door Window Controls. For NAV owners, the system will go through a reboot process that takes about 30 seconds.
